Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for Seniors for Dummies | Marsha Collier

I want to get away from FB, it‘s not the first time I‘ve said this, but I really want it to be the last! But I don‘t know much about Instagram and I was really active on Twitter back in the day until I had a stalker and had to wipe all my online accounts.

What do you all use outside of Litsy?

alisiakae I only use FB now for a few groups, and school updates (my daughter‘s school is active on FB). I use Insta occasionally, but I‘ve really cut back on social media overall. 5y

Tamra I haven‘t been on in 3 months and I don‘t miss it or think about it at all. I spend my social media time on Litsy. 😁 5y

wanderinglynn I use FB for a small group of friends/family & a couple groups. Other than Litsy, I use IG & Twitter. IG‘s functions similar to Litsy. It‘s really all about posting photos. I‘m wanderinglynn on IG. On Twitter I‘m wandering_lynn (bookish account) & envtl_lynn (more professional acct). (edited) 5y

JoScho I deleted my FB account a few months ago and it feels amazing. I mostly use Litsy. I have Instagram but I don‘t post-just follow some artists and things like that. 5y

Dogearedcopy I took all social media apps (except for Litsy) off of my phone years ago and it was a game changer in the best ways. I ended up closing almost all of my accounts and spending way less time in those that remained. I‘m transitioning from the Litsy app to Litsy web as well. I‘m trying to be more present IRL 🙂 5y

JackOBotts I left Facebook in 2014 and haven‘t looked back. A great decision! You can do it! I then got sucked into Instagram, but 2019 has been a year of “IG Free” days...I‘ve only gone on 3 times in the new year! Making it part of my monthly tracking has kept me on track! 🙌🏼 5y

Eyelit I only check Facebook a couple times a month - my main social media outlets are Litsy and Instagram (tho my insta is linked to my fb - so when I post there it usually posts to fb too 😂) 5y

GingerAntics I deleted my FB account a few years ago and I couldn‘t be happier. I recently dropped IG because that‘s FB too, actually. I miss when it was about photos and photography before FB bought it and turned it into the selfie capital of the world. I use Litsy mostly and twitter to connect with my favourite authors and fandoms. (edited) 5y

GingerAntics @Dogearedcopy there is Litsy on the web now? I looked for it a couple times a while back. I could love to be able to browse Litsy from my computer. 5y

rretzler I still have a profile on most social media - but now it‘s mostly because I have 2 teens. I rarely check or post myself any more, exceptions being Pinterest, Litsy, LibraryThing, and GoodReads, and it‘s ALL book related. 📖😜 5y

tournevis I have an IG account and I lurk on Tumblr. I am not on FB and I have more or less left TW (I tweet once or twice a month; it's a cesspool). 5y

Annl @Dogearedcopy I did not even know there was a Litsy.com. Thanks @LibrarianJen I have Litsy and Litsy. I use Instagram for my knitting and to follow Alan Cummings. He does a great “Saturday night ion broadway”. But I do not have the Instagram app. I feel free. I only look up specific things even when it comes to news. If I have to thinks about searching for something, I have to really want to know about it. I am more present in my own life. 5y

Zelma I don‘t use a lot of social media. Goodreads only to keep stats on my books (I don‘t chat or review my books nor do I keep a TBR, I just maintain my read list). I did use FB a lot as I am in charge of my library‘s FB page. But I keep a pretty small friend list on my personal page and unfollow/unfriendly/hide posts very liberally. 5y

Purrfectpages I didn‘t know Litsy had a website. I admit I still scroll through Facebook. More so than Instagram and I barely use Twitter. I just don‘t get it. 5y

CouronneDhiver Just Litsy. It‘s been great 👍🏽 If my family/friends want me to see their photos and such, they just text or email. 5y

LibrarianJen Thanks everyone! @4thhouseontheleft @wanderinglynn @rretzler @purfectpages All my real life friends are on FB and some that live far away so it's hard to completely disconnect from them.

I don't think I'm there yet, to be able to delete and completley disengage but getting closer. I found a setting where you can set it to tell you when you have been on the app for X amount of time. I have mine set for 30 minutes a day. 5y
