15 year old Wren lives in the West Virginia mountains. She is cut off from the world by her snake handling preacher father. Her mother‘s true soul mate is her best friend who has pledged to always stay close and protect her. As a series of tragedies occur Wren starts to unravel all of the secrets of her family and emerge from her seclusion. I really liked this. Vivid characters and the story unwound in ways that surprised me. #14books14weeks book4
Any book that actually brings a tear to my eye is a good one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Excellent short story of the meaning of Christmas and the importance of family. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
#WeeklyForecast. I plan on finishing Piece Like a River. I'm loving it so far
#BookReport after not reading much in October since hurricane Helene hit. I'm finally getting back in the swing of things this month.
For #NFN #nonfictionNovember I read The Foundling and Under the Banner of Heaven (not pictured)
I had three four-star reads and two five-star reads.
I‘ve enjoyed both books that I‘ve read by this author. (Though didn‘t care for the reader…too overly dramatic and got on my nerves). Sort of surprised this author isn‘t more well-known.
My first 5 ⭐ read of the year. This is 15-year-old Wren's coming-of-age story. She lives with her parents in the mountains of West Virginia. Her father is a snake handling preacher; her mother has been beaten down by life. It is a stunning novel and I will definitely read anything else this author writes.
...if we're all out there missing someone, that means that we're all really together on that one note, aren't we? So none of us are really alone as long as we're lonely.
