willafulAnother excruciating chapter. Steinbeck really paints a picture.
(It brought up some painful memories of my childhood, when we were very nomadic and I always had to leave stuff behind, and then there's now when I worry about whether we should be emigrating. Not the my life has been anything like this hard.)2d

ElizaMarieI felt so sad for the kiddos with having to leave their things. Every space counts and having to justify what would and would not make the cut matters.2d
KAOThis chapter reminded me of the estate sale that I stopped by this weekend. It struck me as so very sad to see all of these seemingly random items as well as apparently once treasured collectibles left behind. I had so many questions about who lived there and what circumstances brought about the need for this sale, but I didn‘t speak to anyone about it and left—with one little garden decoration ($4) ready to start a new life in my yard.2d
