I'm eager to get started on this as I'm always fascinated by the use of DNA in solving mysteries, real and ficticious.

Read too much like a text book to keep my attention. My aging mind could not keep up with the rapid fire names and dates and I often found myself daydreaming of other things while my eyes passed over the pages and the words fell to the floor. I got tired of picking them up. Perhaps that is a result of age also.
History is messy, because humans are complex and this volume does a good job in showing the complex, messy, sometimes contradictory behavior of the humans in one part of France during a terrible time in history. The author shows us more than the heroics. The book follows many people, Jewish, Protestant and Catholic. It portrays as many sides of each of them as is knowable, and doesn‘t refrain from admitting when it cannot be known. A bit clunky ⬇️
This book is so needed right now! As shown above, people were slow to realize the enormity of the problem and to act. It‘s so similar to what I see going on right now.
We do not care that we bought the shorts we're wearing at a thrift store during Clinton's second term. Some styles are timeless.
We also do not care that we're posting this on Thursday. Time is a construct, and we can't be expected to keep up with what day it is.

#JulyJazz Day 10: The #Fireworks in Versailles were hands-down spectacular. We were fortunate to witness it when we were in France last year. This is one of the photos I managed to take, along with gorgeous videos.
Van Gogh‘s sunflowers build continues while I finish this book. I loved learning where the food we associate with France came into existence and what was happening at that time. I have travelled a fair bit in France so I could picture so many of the places the author talked about and the food too. It‘s time to go back
Today is the 233rd anniversary of the Baiser Lamourette (Lamourette Kissing), where priest and representative Lamourette enjoined his colleagues to make peace with each other after some stormy debates in Parliament. Hence the hugs and kisses portrayed in this ink drawing kept in the Louvre museum. I cannot picture the same thing happening today 😁
