This was the #firstvampirebookiread because my mom and I were watching "Dark Shadows," and they stole from all the classics. ?? I'd love to have this #Folio edition. #vampchallenge #firstvampirebookyouread

@freyaheart

this was also the first book with a cliffhanger that I read.. It was such a shock for the 10yo me!!! I've never found out how the series ends, back then I didn't buy the sequels (=I couldn't find them anywhere), now I've got the complete series (in english) on my ereader ✌

Not book-related, but there's also The Count 💖

I know I read some kid books about vampires, but this is the only one I can remember before I graduated to things like "Salem's Lot" and "Interview with the Vampire."

Ekkross This was my favorite book as a kid!!! 7y
Zelma Excellent choice! ❤️ 7y
DragonSadhana @Ekkross I can understand why! 7y
DragonSadhana @Zelma Why, thank you! 💃 7y

Day 1 of #vampchallenge #firstvampirebookyouread

Two things I have had since high school:

1) A strict book-before-movie policy, and
2) A massive crush on Brad Pitt.

As a direct result of these two things, this was the first vampire book I read, and gosh, did this create a monster in me. ❤️

Leniverse I'm thinking hard now, and I'm really not sure which was the first vampire book I read! 😱 7y
Jess_Read_This Oh!! Look at that baby face Brad Pitt! 7y
julesG It was my first vampire book too. And the first book I attempted to read in English. I was 14. Bad choice. I've not finished it. 😓 7y

sprainedbrain @julesG I've never attempted to read a book in a language other than English, so I think that's awesome! 7y
sprainedbrain @Leniverse I have Brad to help me remember. 😂 7y
julesG @sprainedbrain The good thing is, it did not put me off English books and the English language. I kept on it, making English my preferred language these days. I might even pick up Ms Rice's book again one day. 😉 7y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Sookie Stackhouse novels were my first foray into Vampire novels, and I was probably 52...it wasn't that long ago. I started Vampire Academy last year, but haven't followed up. 7y
sprainedbrain @JanuarieTimewalker13 I read the Sookie books too! Those started off strong and kind of fizzled out in my opinion. I read all of the Vampire Academy books a few years ago - they weren't exactly awesome but I kept reading for Dimitri. 😂 7y
drokka It's funny how our experiences differ so much, but sometimes we still end up in the same place. I'd read a lot of vampire books and this one made me cringe. Nearly put me off vampires forever. I had trouble with the sexy vampire thing. I read them all to be able to discuss with friends though. Then Sookie Stackhouse came along and somehow I'm okay with the trope now. I also have reassessed my feelings about Rice's novels. 7y
JanuarieTimewalker13 I stopped Sookie at book 10...something changed. I've only read book 1 of VA. @BarbaraTheBibliophage posted an interesting Vamp series yesterday I'd like to read-Chicagoland Vampires (edited) 7y
