So now that I've read both the bloke and non-bloke versions, you'll be wanting to know who wore it best, right?

Well the art in this one is just as good as in The Story of Art, but I did sometimes find myself wishing for Gombrich's infectious storytelling whilst reading this excellent collection of art-thusiasm.

You can tell which eras Hessel is most interested in because then her writing gleams.

Another wonderful book about art ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I wasn‘t expecting the miniature version of 100 Flowers to be quite this miniature, but ever since I discovered miniature versions of coffee table art books I‘ve been looking for (used if possible) ones to look at in bed when I‘m too sick to read or watch TV, so maybe a truly tiny one is actually just what I needed. I can keep it by my bed right within reach. #theuniversealwaysknowsbest

Finally getting round to reading this which has been on my tbr for ages!
The audiobook is excellent and comes with a pdf so I can study the art while the book is being read to me 😊

Women Artists A to Z | Melanie LaBarge

Beautifully illustrated, this picture book introduced me to some familiar and unfamiliar names.

Each letter is dedicated to what the artist was best known for - for example Yayoi Kusama is featured on the page “D is for Dots” - and it ends with mini bios of all artists mentioned.

Rissreads Ooooo, this looks great! I‘ll add it to our purchasing list in the library! ♥️ 6mo

I listened to the audio, which did a piss-poor job of keeping my interest except for briefly with Jake whatever-his-fake-last-name was; anyway, Jake and Ellie ended up in some kind of a relationship, or she thought so, anyway. Near the end of the book, suddenly it was 40 years later, and I missed how that transition happened (though as I read the summary, apparently much of the story was already 40 years later? And I missed it.) Cont in comments

CarolynM This one wasn‘t a hit with me either. 9mo
LibraryCin @CarolynM glad I'm not alone. It was a book club book, and I don't recall the others disliking it as much as I did. 9mo

Over the course of my long weekend in Byron Bay these were the things I collected from that bus stop book swap. Love a good vintage magazine for a train ride. The tea pot doesn‘t have a strainer but it was cute and free so it came home with me. The Roald Dahl book is for my Stew, who wanted to be a pilot when he grew up. I‘m interested in learning more about the artists in the tagged book.

My walk this morn on my way to the Byron Bay Writer‘s Festival. I randomly came across a 📕 swap at a 🚌 🛑. I‘ll be visiting this 1 multiple xs over this holiday as I‘ll walk past it every day. I‘d no idea were I was going this morn but lucky I‘ve an inbuilt sense of direction unlike my cartographer partner, Stewart. I was on my way to the farmers market. Where I bought some beautiful food including doughnuts, bread & some sugar cane juice.

Tamra I envy your sense of direction! 9mo
