Why Shoot a Butler? | Georgette Heyer
post image

When I picked up this book at a charity bookstore, my #firstimpressions were that the cover was intriguing and that I may like the mystery. Little did I know that Georgette Heyer would become my #favoritefemaleauthor ! I've enjoyed or loved every one of her books I've read (with one exception), and I'm so glad there are still many I have yet to read. ❤️

rubyslippersreads 😍😍😍 that cover! 6y
mabell @rubyslippersreads It was protected by a library jacket! It's still the only one I've found like it ❤️ 6y
Butterfinger I thought she only wrote Victorian humorous stories. This intrigues me. Thanks for sharing. 6y

LeahBergen What a beautiful edition! 6y
mabell @Butterfinger She wrote many historical romances (with humor) and a number of mysteries (also with humor.) Both are excellent! 6y
mabell @ErinSueG ❤️❤️Thank you! I'm afraid I am disappointing on this one because I couldn't find what she liked to read. 😕 6y
mabell @LeahBergen Thank you! Only 8 more to find! 😂 6y

One of my favorite female authors is Kris Radish. She writes books about women for women. She grew up loving Nancy Drew stories. My favorite book of hers is: Annie Freeman‘s Fabulous Traveling Funeral. This book shows how interconnected our lives and friendships really are. I was lucky to find it and make good book friends.

Erinsuereads That looks like such a sweet book! Great choice! 6y

“I receive an alarming number of requests for my lists of favourites. I generally do not answer this question, as I have a hard time deciding favourites.”
This was what came up on her website in her FAQ about what her favorite book, food, etc... and I really felt that. Although there is much evidence that she loved Wuthering Heights as a youngling, and 1984 had a lot of influence on her dystopian works.

Erinsuereads @CoffeeNBooks picked her too! 6y
Meaw_catlady @ErinSueG yay! She‘s my new favorite since finding my joy of reading again. I need to read more from her now. It was between her and Anne Rice . All my other favorites were from my YA years 6y
Erinsuereads I picked Anne rice 6y

Meaw_catlady @ErinSueG ooooohhh I forgot to tell you! At Powell‘s in the rare books room they had Anne Rice‘s personal library that she used to research her vampire books she had donated to them. It was v cool a ton of books on the history of the church and religious texts and such all with her notes and stuff in them. 6y
Erinsuereads Oh man!!! I would have freaked out!!! 6y
Meaw_catlady @ErinSueG let‘s take the orange fiat on a road trip to Portland ;) 6y
