Trying | Kobi Yamada

This is the newest book by the same author.

Noticing by Kobi Yamada was the perfect read in the quiet of the morning on the day after my father took his flight from this world. May we all take the time to “pause and allow for the extraordinary“ that this beautiful life offers!

tpixie So sorry for your loss. Hugs 🤗 I‘m glad you found some comfort in reading. 🩵 5d

This week‘s lineup in the #LFL featuring some for the kiddos in the neighbourhood and this week‘s homemade bookmarks. Are we missing anything? #haidagwaii #littlefreelibrary #mixedbag

LeahBergen It looks perfect to me! But you‘ll need more bookmarks, of course. 😄 2mo

#AutumnPlease! Day 24: #WorldPolioDay reminded me of Wilma Rudolph, Olympic champion and world‘s fastest woman, who suffered from polio as a child. Ever since she was a baby, Wilma had always been sickly, weighing only a little over four pounds at birth. Yet despite this, she remains a sprightly young girl who preferred jumping and running to simply walking. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-7uT

Yetis Are the Worst! | Alex Willan

4 ⭐ Yetis are shy and quiet, but there is a goblin who is going to prove to you that they are the worst creatures out there. They just must find them first. This book is tongue in cheek. It is so much fun and not only are the illustrations great, but the cover of the book also has both scratchy and fluffy textures. It‘s the little things that count, and this book was a little joy to read.

#BookBinge Day 22: This delicious book #IncludesRecipes - as I noted in my review: There is a distillation to the writing that is exact, precise, and piercing. This tension between being both Japanese and American is at the core of Nakayama‘s story and her struggles being raised as a girl within the Japanese culture that puts a premium on boys and men and their accomplishments. Emmanuel‘s story of fighting ableism is well conveyed in this picture book. The author effectively shows Emmanuel‘s adaptive solutions that help him get to school and participate in sports while at the same time showing Emmanuel‘s observations about people with disabilities being excluded from Ghana society and how these factors all contributed to Emmanuel‘s 400 mile ride across the country to raise awareness. #DisabilitiesRep #PictureBook

#MayMontage Day 4: #FinanceDollarRelated - It was this young boy‘s selflessness that caught me and made me smile how this “richest boy in the world” with hard earned coins in his pocket worked and saved tirelessly, depriving himself of things he wanted, to purchase something his family needed.
