I started this book immediately after finishing the show Dept Q - which had me rapt. It was maybe too soon to visit the same storyline again but I really enjoyed the book too. So grim.

#roll100 really not for me. Too long, misogynistic characters, and a mystery that I didn‘t find that interesting. Onto the next!

PuddleJumper Ew. Hope the next book is better! 3mo

⭐️⭐️⭐️ I‘m finally halfway through to catching up on the Dept. Q series. This was a twisty one that went many places at once and was a fun read. However a bit disappointed that I‘m 5 books in and still don‘t have a clue about Assad‘s background. This didn‘t push the storyline forward a bit.

Other than that, a pretty good thriller.

Lesliereadsalot Is Dept Q the same one as the Netflix series? Really liked that series! 4mo
BookMaven9 Yes it is. I read the first one about 10 years ago ago which was the show. I read until there were no more. Now there‘s 10! I‘m working on catching up 4mo

The Purity of Vengeance | Jussi Adler-Olsen

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It‘s been a minute since I‘ve read a Department Q novel!

These books don‘t disappoint! Great characters along with very intricate storylines that weave and tie end nicely throughout. This one explores the oldies in Denmark when the right wing nationalists wanted to keep Denmark “Danish” and explored the lengths some crazies will go to keep in that way.

The relationships between Carl, Assad and rose gold deeper.

I just found out that my favorite #NordicNoir series has been adapted into into a Netflix show. I hope its good. I'm tagging the old group; fearful they're no longer on Litsy since I have not seen any posts from them.

I liked this series, especially because it had humorous moments.

Tove_Reads 🙌 I think someone left Litsy, I looked for them as well at some point. 5mo
Tove_Reads @eanderson sadly left for better reading grounds somewhere over the rainbow 5mo

AnneCecilie When I first saw the title, I thought it was based on the books, but then it wasn‘t set in Copenhagen and I got unsure. Do you know that Adler-Olsen has given some authors the right to continue the books, and there‘s a new one coming out now? 5mo
Butterfinger @AnneCecilie I have mixed feelings. I'm glad the books will continue. I hope the authors will do justice by his creation. 5mo
Crazeedi I don't have Netflix but I enjoyed the books! 5mo
Butterfinger @Crazeedi oh, how I have missed you. 5mo

Bailedbailed

I reached 67% and have 3 1/2 hours at 1.5 speed to finish. I‘ve been arguing with myself about bailing all morning, and I surrender. I don‘t know if it‘s the narrator, the translation, or the source material but I dislike the characters, the author seems oddly obsessed with menstruation, and non-white male characters are not written well. I wanted to read this before watching Dept Q, but I think I‘ll skip the TV show as well.

mcctrish This is on my TBR and now I think I will take it off 6mo
DGRachel @mcctrish There seems to be a lot of love for the series but @Hooked_on_books has a review here that captures some of the key things that bothered me. I might have been able to power through except I found the story itself and the main detective both tedious. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6mo
Hooked_on_books Yeah, there are big issues with this one. Bailing was a good move. 6mo

Department Q has always been a great series. As the last in line, Locked In has all the intrigue and twists only Adler-Olsen can pull off. With throwbacks to other DQ cases and the end where we see the whole series come full circle — amazing. These are books you can read out of order or over and over. Save Locked In for last. Adding a spoiler tag because it's the last in the series. I don't want to ruin the ride!

The last in the brilliant Department Q series. It‘s bittersweet—I can‘t wait to read the book, but I‘m so sorry to see the end of the series.

squirrelbrain I think I tried the first one of these a few years ago but no more. 😬 11mo
