Starting this today (or trying to) while #DannyBoy wants very much to have ALL THE SNUGGLES and kiddo fights off a cold. I‘ve fallen behind on reviews again, and will get around to them…eventually.

Fascinating and kind of terrifying look at the Dominionist movement in Christian America. I would love an update that covers the intervening 15-ish years.
We drove to Dallas after Christmas and there‘s a stretch of I-20 with billboards spouting this kind of garbage (abolish income tax/teacher unions/social security; bring back Yahwuh). Frightening.
First he was school supplies, then #DannyBoy decided he was breakfast food. He‘s into everything these last couple mornings, tearing around the house at super-speed and getting on tables and counters everywhere. I don‘t know what he wants!

Everything in its place! Apparently #DannyBoy is school supplies now…which actually makes sense for our homeschool.

I‘m slowly but surely recovering. I‘m cautiously spending time around kiddo, hubby, and kitty, but no hugs yet. The worst is over but the cough remains, and if it‘s like every other winter illness I‘ve ever had the cough will remain for weeks. Hubby is still handling cooking duties but decided he can‘t live without macaroni and cheese, so I‘ve been talking him through making the roux. Send good thoughts, please. 👇🏻
pickLow pick for this one. Lucy and Duncan get their first assignment as Royal Saboteurs in this fourth book of the series (read it as a standalone and it worked). Lucy is hyper-competitive and Duncan is hopelessly in love with her. Undercover in the Prime Minister‘s household, they must uncover a plot, apprehend the villain, and protect a little boy - while unraveling their feelings. I liked the depths to Duncan‘s story and want to read more 👇🏻
so-soWoohee…the book itself is ok. You know how sometimes a character asks a question just so someone else can show off in their answer, to show off how smart the author is? Welcome to this book. “I‘m Jules Verne and I did tons of marine research for this book so here it is” info dump, over and over. The voyage itself was actually interesting, but it was maybe 20% of the book. No idea how this is a “classic,” TBH. 👇🏻
