This series was recommended to me and probably not something I'd have stumbled upon.
It drew me in and held my interest.

🎧 Book 2 of this progression fantasy sees Yerin & Lindon leaving the Sacred Valley. The first book was a unique book to me, this one builds on that.

Right now I like Yerin better than Lindon but I‘m enjoying Lindon‘s journey from copper to iron and exploring his mother‘s path.

Favorite new character: Eithan!

Looking forward to the next book. Book sale, I own a few more. Good narration! 😁

Story spins at the 50% mark so wait to make any decisions.

At 7 Lindon was declared unsouled by the semiannual spirit test. 17 times he‘s returned to no avail. He‘s basically considered useless to his clan.

1st 1/2 of the book is world building & defining Lindon‘s character. He‘s become creative & politely underhanded in his efforts to be given a hammer badge.

2nd half? It‘s a surprise. 😆

Prompt: Big Trouble in Little China

First in an indie fantasy series whose latest entry was nominated for a Goodreads award. The plot is standard YA stuff: magic school, rigid social structures, and a disadvantaged kid you just know is Very Special. It's also done well enough -- appealing hero, well-paced, interesting world -- that I'll probably read at least one more.

My #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin books for December. I don't know much about the first except that the latest in the series was nominated for a Goodreads choice award in the Fantasy category. The second is a historical mystery set in imperial Rome. Looking forward to both.

I remember, when I first saw this book on Goodreads I imagined it to be a light hearted comedy novel. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. This book was very intellectually humorous and witty with addition of politics, religion, and science into the most credulous fictitious world that I've ever come across.
