Carley Fortune‘s storytelling talent shines through in this book. I genuinely adored the characters and the nostalgic lakeside setting. The emotional, character-driven narrative captivated me, leaving me with a heartfelt story that delves into themes of love, regret, and second chances. Narrator A.J. Bridel did an excellent job bringing the characters and their story to life.

This book started off so strong and I was loving it, then the “reveal” happened and I didn‘t love it. What the “reveal” was felt so out of character for Percy. It didn‘t work for me. I want to keep this spoiler free so all I will say is what Percy did just wasn‘t consistent with how she acted all throughout the book.

Vacation read #1: I was told by a lot that this book was perfect. I did enjoy it. It was a light, sweet read, but if you hate the non-communication trope, this book will drive you nuts.

So while I did think it was good, it lost a lot of stars over the use of that trope. About half-way through, I wanted to read Charlie‘s book instead because I was liking him better.

A fast paced read Percy, spends her first summer at the lakeside cottage. Little does she know, Sam & Charlie, the boys next door are going to be in her thoughts for longer than summer. Sam and Percy build a beautiful friendship while fighting their feelings for one another, but fate persists& their relationship begins. One event aruptbly ends it though and many years go by until Charlie calls Percy when their mother, passes away

Stupidly saw ‘After‘ in the title and thought this was the sequel. Although both books stand alone, I would recommend reading this before One Golden Summer which gives away part of this book‘s plot.
Nevertheless, another lovely, frothy beach read (even if we have just returned home to quite a cold, winter beach town).

The week at a cottage that I look forward to each year! I couldn't decide what I was in the mood for so I brought a few library books and a few off my shelves. I'll probably only have time to read one or two but at least I have options. I'll be finishing Radio Girls first.

For some reason I wasn‘t interested in this when everyone else read it years ago but when I found out it was set in Canada that was enough for me to give it a shot. I ended up really enjoying it, even though the big secret was somewhat less than I expected. It wasn‘t a good decision but not worth 12 years of estrangement. Percy needed a get-a-grip friend. I‘m definitely up for the sequel!
