Usha and the Big Digger | Amitha Jagannath Knight

Pickpick

4 🌟Two sisters are looking at the night sky, and the oldest sister sees and explains the big dipper. But Usha, the younger sister says she sees a big digger, just like her favorite truck. Their cousin comes to join them, and they see a kite. Many different things can be seen in these formations. Some have cultural references, and some are just the readers imagination.

Book 2 in a YA series, Sci-fi. Sometimes a sequel gets stale, but not this one! The adventure of human Noemi and sort of human Abel deepens as Noemi is kidnapped, a new world is discovered and her home world is threatened. A perfect blend of imagination and interesting characters, this is a good second book, and I'm looking forward to reading number 3.

I have a weakness for journals, but seriously, I could not just let one go with this magnificent mermaid on it! Went to the bookstore with my son and the rest are kind of his
He seems to have the same bookstore problem I do with not as much of a reading obsession. I'm convinced I just haven't found his genre yet. He did start reading What We See in the Stars on the way home, so I'm hopeful.

Very informative, though admittedly the writing style was a bit dry and felt kind of academic at times. That said, it was about a topic of interest to me and the stories were interesting. Liked the wide range of cultural diversity in the stories behind the constellations.

KCofKaysville Just finished it. Pretty interesting like you said for a nonfiction book. 3y

I finally sat outside last night for the last day of Summer. Saw a shooting star, enjoyed time with my children....worked on a school assignment. I missed my #bfc group- my Walking was finally close to my goal, one mile on work days, 3 miles each day on Friday, Sat and Sunday. Read 2 books last week (thanks to flying)I do feel like I blinked and Summer is gone- but Autumn is my favorite!! Tagging my #bfc team and buddy- I miss your check ins!

Mitch That sounds like a wonderful end of summer ritual 😘And that walking ! You go girl! It‘s amazing 🏆 (edited) 5y

Chrissyreadit @sudi @MicrobeMom how are you? Sudi what season are you in? Stacey does it feel like fall by you? 5y
MicrobeMom I am doing good. Life is a bit crazy but we are going day to day. It feels like fall for a couple day but then we are back to summer. The nights and mornings are cooler. So it is coming! 5y
sudi @Chrissyreadit i'm doing good, keeping up with the goals i made in round 3. The weather here is alternating between hot and humid/rain and windy, It's weird 😄 5y

Constellations: The Stars and Stories | Chris Sasaki, Joe Boddy

I‘m studying the constellations! “Pisces” by Lorraine Harrison is a children‘s book because it is my astrological sign and my daughter, the librarian, said I should read it. “Constellations” by Chris Sasaki gives each constellation, where and when to find it, and the story behind it. I am interested because when I take our dog out at 11 PM, there are so many stars in the sky and I want to learn about them. #BFC2

wanderinglynn That sounds like a fascinating book! 👍🏻👍🏻 5y
Allylu The Constellations is really good. It tells how to look for the constellations, how to stand and where, and how to cover your flashlight so it doesn‘t interfere with finding the Stars. It also tells the stories of each constellation. I like it! 5y

4 🌟 This is an interesting reading with amazing illustrations. The tale is quickly told as the rhythm of the words is just right. Not all the rhymes work, but the reader does not get tripped up on them either. In the back the authors go into more information about the planets, constellations, and mythology mentioned within the story.
