Her TBI leaves her with coma, amnesia, inability to form words and erratic violent behavior. Aunt Whitney is all she has and it will be a long road to recovery ❤️‍🩹

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
As previously stated, I love Jann and everything she writes. I started reading this book when I first bought it a couple of years ago, and loved it so much that I bought copies for my mom and step-mom; but I never finished it until now. Better late than never? Jann has so many insights that strike to the core of me. I recommend this especially for anyone who is caregiver to a loved one.

I was very excited to read this book because the prose is compared to Sally Rooney (who I love) but it didn‘t live up to my expectations.

The main issue I had was that the prose is incredibly wordy. Usually I don‘t take issue with that, but this novel went overboard with it. A lot of the wording would end up being awkward and hard to read.

I think the author nailed the complexities of being a 29 year old caregiver. However the book plot was lacking. 😬😞

Being a caregiver for a time I thought I‘d enjoy another‘s insight. Nope. The telling seemed disjointed and had sudden and alarming insertions that were unexpected and gross. Many times while listening I yelled
“yuck”, “ eeewww” or “No, please stop!” One of the worst books I read in a long time. 😖

This book has a good storyline but in keeping up with her latest novels, Danielle Steel leaves no mystery to find and it‘s just predictable. Nothing compares to her 1990‘s writing and I feel let down by her work lately. If you‘re not looking for any mystery, suspense, or intrigue, I‘d recommend this book. Otherwise, this is just like her previous ten novels and boringly predictable. #daniellesteelisslipping
