For our #day12 #augustphotochallenge I chose several examples of #bookishsiblings. My personal favorite are Luke & Leia. My sister painted the blue picture quote from her favorite Little Women and my SO asked me to add his fave, Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov. #augustofpages

I love these #bookishsiblings: Violet, Klaus, and Sunny. My dear friend's daughter read the first book to me when she was 5, then when she was 10 she was my flower girl, and now she's 22 and she's a beautiful model. ❤️ happy memories.

Yournewfriendsams They were going to be my choice for book siblings too! 8y
Shortstack I so didn't even think of this series!! Silly me! 8y

Day12 of #augustofpages and my favourite #bookishsiblings are the irrepressible Gordon sisters growing up in rural Northern Ireland. Helen, the pineapple tart herself, and her sisters Jennifer, Daisy, Laura and Sarah, go to great lengths to find love and happiness without killing each other... #bookphotochallenge

#bookishsiblings #literarysiblings I scoured my shelves and after process of elimination I decided upon Laura and Mary Ingalls. I read and reread this series when I was a girl, and as much as I loved wild and daring Laura and wanted to be her, I really was more like prim and well-behaved Mary. Their relationship as sisters seems pretty typical to me--close enough, but also fraught with competition and personality clashes. I don't have a sister.

I'm obsessed with this movie. My favorite #bookishsiblings have historically been the Pevensies but these sisters were my greatest envy (I only have one). BUT THEN THIS MOVIE CAME OUT and totally exceeded my expectations. You guys, I cried tears of joy. They are so badass. This movie (and book) is perfection 👌 #Augustofpages/#Augustphotochallenge @TheSpinecrackersBookClub

BekahB I loved this too! Loved the costumes. I tried to read the book, but couldn't get into it. However, I really liked the movie 😀 8y
jpmcwisemorgan I loved the movie. I haven't tried to read the book yet. 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag I adored the movie (I need it on DVD! Surely it's the perfect antidote to a bad day?) I was the same @BekahB - I couldn't get into the book... 8y

readinginthedark Oh man, I hated this movie! ? I expected it to follow the book, though, and instead it's about a zombie apocalypse and stuff. Also, Darcy's Batman voice and horrible compliments were really distracting to me. "Her arms are incredibly well-formed for combat..." I couldn't help laughing every time he spoke. 8y
ImaginativeMom I enjoyed the book, which made me afraid to see the movie. My husband, who didn't read the book, enjoyed the movie. The way it usually works? 8y
WordWaller @readinginthedark haha I was thrown back by Darcy's voice at first too, but later I realized the hilarity is the whole point. I LOLed through the whole thing because I think it's meant to be not taken so seriously. I also had years between reading the book and seeing the movie, so that probably helped my not doing too critical of the movie (usually it's hard for me!) 8y
WordWaller @BekahB yeah, the costumes were so fun! 8y
WordWaller @jpmcwisemorgan @thegirlwiththelibrarybag the book is good if you decide to not take P&P so seriously. And of course if you love and enjoy P&P in the first place 😉 but I get that it's not for everyone. And yes, I totally need to buy the movie! I've rewatched my favorite scenes on YouTube when I need a good laugh. 8y
WordWaller @ImaginativeMom me and my husband were the same way! I think it does usually work like that with non-reader spouses 😉 (at least with mine) 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag That first proposal scene 😂💜 I went through a 'reading the classics' phase some years back and the urge to read that style has mostly gone plus I'm not really a zombie fan (think the only zombie book I've read is Warm Bodies) 8y

#Day12 #AugustPhotoChallenge #favsiblings #Bookishsiblings It's not my favorite Austen but Sense and Sensibility has one of my favorite sets of sisters, Elinor and Marianne (and don't forget young Margaret as well). Thought to be modeled on Austen's own relationship with her sister Cassandra, the Dashwood sisters are very different but remain extremely devoted to each other's health and happiness in the best sisterly way. 💕📚👭#AugustofPages

As an only child, I've always been fascinated by sibling relationships. My favorite bookish siblings are the Murrys from L'Engle's Time Quintet, the second of which is displayed by these goober siblings that I'm raising. ;) #augustofpages #bookphotochallenge #bookishsiblings
