Goodnight Moon | Margaret Wise Brown
Pickpick

The style of this book is very short but not choppy, it flows nicely and is a relaxing easy read. The illustrations also add a soft touch to the content of the book

“Goodnight Moon“ by Margaret Wise Brown, 1947. Picture book. My mom used to read this book to me all the time when I was younger! It's a classic for sure. This book will definitely appeal to children because it has for many years and is about something they are familiar with.

#UCFLAE3414F19 This adorable book written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd is a classic children's bedtime story about a rabbit's routine before he goes to bed. Before bedtime, the rabbit goes around the bedroom and says “goodnight” to all of the things that he/she notices whether they are inanimate objects like a red balloon or a pair of socks or two kittens.

ccipriati One of the attractions of this 72-year-old book is that it is comprised totally of rhyming verses. This is a great book for an independent read or even a storytelling. In 2007 the National Teachers‘ Association named this book one of its Teachers‘ Top 100 Books for Children. 1mo
ccipriati The UDL Guideline strategy that I have chosen for this book is 8.3 which is a strategy intended to foster collaboration and community. You can do this by starting the lesson by asking the students what and whom they say “goodnight” to. Then the discussion can evolve into a greater overarching discussion into things that make the students feel safe, stable and comfortable and why. 1mo
ccipriati The ESOL Strategy that I have picked for this book is #4 which is a strategy where you link lesson topic to students‘ prior knowledge. This is a great way for students to engage in text to self. They can do this by having a discussion about the things or people that they say “goodnight” to. 1mo
ccipriati This is a great link to use in your classroom to work on lessons that go along with this book. https://www.brighthubeducation.com/preschool-lesson-plans/126704-teaching-with-g... 1mo
abbie-cadabbie I used to love reading this book at bedtime when I was younger! The ESOL strategy you chose works perfectly with the story as it can spark conversation and lead to a great discussion! 4w

Goodnight Moon is a P picture book written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd. This book would be best used as a RT in a kindergarten class. This poem follows along with a bunny as it says goodnight to things throughout the room before it goes to bed. This book was awarded the Teachers Top 100 Books for Children by the NEA. #UCFLAE3414F19

katiehamlin The EL strategy I would use with this book is 46. Using discovery learning activities (hands-on-activities) is good for this book because doing a readers theatre is hands on and that‘s what I think the best teaching strategy for this book is. 2mo
katiehamlin Here is a link to a website with some really good activities to do with your students beyond the readers theatre you could do for this book. http://www.hubbardscupboard.org/goodnight-moon 2mo
katiehamlin The UDL principle I would use for this book is 5.1. Use multiple media for communication is good for this book, since I think it is best done as a readers theatre. 2mo

Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown, illustrated by Clement Hurd is a great MF picture book for children in Pre-K through 1st grade. It is a perfect tool to use for Choral Reading as the story repeats. This is also a good story for beginner ESOL as the pages are short and simple, and available in Spanish. #UCFLAE3414F19

AleciaM ESOL and UDL that I would use for this book would be; 2.4 Promote understanding across languages as this book is also available in Spanish, and 12 teach to two objectives, language and context. https://www.youngpeoplestheatre.org/schools/teacher-resources/goodnight-moon-stu...
