so-soSometimes this book got at what it was reaching for, and sometimes it was clouded by 80s conceptions and language, and sometimes it sank like a stone under the exoticising racism and transphobia of something written by a rich white lady from New Orleans. A roller coaster, to be sure.
I will say this about this weirdly constructed book - the vacation interlude sure makes me want to take a rich fuck vacation, a thing that I will -never- be able to do
People keep asking me what I‘m reading. The past month I was traveling and preparing for an upcoming musical theater gig, planning kiddo‘s birthday party, getting her to her various obligations; I‘ve got zero bandwidth to spare. What‘s the best thing to tell people when the truth is: copious amounts of digital smut because I can‘t concentrate on anything else? 😆🤪🤣
pickThis was a low pick, but will continue the series. This is pure smut with a bit of plot. They are sex wizards, so they have to perform different types of sex acts to conjure magic. Dom comes to a magical school with a letter of introduction and you learn everything as he does.
Finished on 5/11.
Slogging through this one for the sake of book club tonight. You would think a book about a dominatrix would be super interesting. This is not.
pickI adore this story even more with the annotations. Jasper‘s chapter was wild and crazy. I just can‘t help loving Laurie and Toby even more, especially with the little glimpses at the writing, inspiration, and background stuff throughout from the annotations. Toby‘s LMP recipe was hilarious. This edition is an absolute celebration of Laurie and Toby. It also promises a second book for them. I would adore that so very much!
