I still have a stack of books that I used up renewals on to read through. Yet here I am checking out two more books. Both new to me authors Lauren Groff for #authorofthemonth and out of view Kiersten White for a fable bookclub.

1. The tagged book a tad early for #authorofthemonth as I found it at the Salvos at Hamilton for only $4! 2. Another one of Kate‘s if I can find where I put them! #Two4Tuesday

Andrew65 This was one I wasn‘t able to get hold of in October, but I did read 3 Simone St James books. Such a great author. 5mo
Morr_Books @Andrew65 I just happen to get it on a Kindle deal a few months back. I enjoyed Sun Down Motel a lot and really hope to finish Book of Cold Cases tonight. It is so good so far. 5mo
Andrew65 @Morr_Books Yes, enjoyed both of those books. 5mo

Had a little friend visit while I finished this one. The trope was very popular recently but I still liked this one. #authorofthemonth

Re-read this one for #authorofthemonth. It is hard to rate. It is well written, especially the descriptions of nature. But the dialogue is offensive. And then there is the ending. But it definitely has the teenager (reading it for school) talking.

Told in a transcript format, looking back at a chart-topping rock band from the 1970s from the POVs of the band members, producer, agent, studio head, and others close to them.
I‘m kind of on the fence if I liked it or not. The beginning was interesting, the middle made me question if I even liked any of the characters, the ending brought it back around. I did like the format, made it a fast read.

tpixie I‘ve got 20 minutes on my audiobook, then I‘m going to do the audio of this for #authorofthemonth I‘m cutting it close for February! 13mo

Free from audible and Amazon kindle prime reading. A story written in the epistolary style. A woman finds letters written to her husband from his lover. She then reaches out to the lover‘s husband. An excellent read. It felt fully fleshed out and complete despite it‘s very short length. The ending was surprising and satisfying. My 2nd success this year with short stories. I see more in my future!

I liked it. Not my favorite of hers but it is good. I think there was a small pacing problem, because she spent 100 plus pages on the making of the album and only about 20 on the famous break up. But I liked the story and the structure. I think the parts I didn‘t like were “me problems” because the 70s rock n roll drug use was just not a era I wanted to spend much time in I will definitely watch the tv show and more of the author #authorofthemonth

I read this for #authorofthemonth. I am a little disappointed. I heard good things, and there were some good things about the book. But it felt like the narrator was telling me a chaotic life story with tangents while bouncing on the balls of her feet. She was a bit maniac. Also it is clearly auto fiction and yet the author wrote herself into the book. I think she should have written it as a memoir if she wanted to focus so much on current events.

TEArificbooks I did like her descriptions of living in Minnesota and figurative language. 1y
Karons1 I also bailed I just could not get into it at all , it‘s been raves about over here 👈 so I thought it was me ! 😆 1y
