Visited the library after work today to pick up my hold on the Ice Palace, my book for Norway from my reading #aroundtheworld challenge... Left with many more books than expected AND I‘m already in the middle of a big reading slump AND trying to attempt to read one of the big books this year, Priory of the Orange Tree. How am I going to get these read? #libraryhaul #oopsabookhaul
There are 16 weeks left until 2020, and this year my focus was on minority/translated: authors of color, LGBTQIA+ authors, women authors, indigenous authors, authors in translation. I have another 4 books I want to get to for this theme, so I planned them out to stay on schedule. 2020 will be about reading the standards for lit majors, since I can count the # I've already read on one hand 😬 what does everyone have planned for the rest of 2019?
#PopSugar2019 49/50 Journey... (Choose your own adventure), Little Men (reread of fave)
#ReadHarder2019 21/24 LumberJanes (comic by LGBTQ creator)
#AroundtheWorld 19/52 Homegoing (Ghana), Passion... (Cuba), People... (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
Not a good month for reading, but a smooth start to a new school year. Knock on wood.
#PopSugar2019 -47/50: The Pulps 50 Years of American Pop (pop), On the Come Up (2019), Barefoot (summer), The Dungeon Travelor (LitRPG)
#Booked2019 -22/24: Love, Hate, and Other Filters (Muslim author/MC), Black Panther (comic),Tatiana and Alexander (soldier's story), OTCU (new in 2019)
I read a lot of non-fiction (for me) this Spring for a book prize committee that I was part of. Today, I was listening to the most recent All the Books and Liberty‘s co-host this week is a host for Book Riot‘s non-fiction podcast, For Real. This week‘s episode is a recap of the best non-fiction of 2019 so far and Liberty Hardy was a guest host in a quid pro quo. I am excited to find some other titles to add to my nonfiction TBR! #bookriot #forreal
I think this book would be very good for younger children. I definitely wouldn‘t put this book in an older classroom because they might think it‘s boring. It is very cute for the young readers though.
This book is very nice because it uses real life pictures rather than drawn illustrations. These images are from all over the world. The book also has an index in the back and a map that shows where the pictures were taken.
