MirrorMask I read Frankenstein and the Book Thief, loved them both. Frankenstein was a reread as I have read it before in college. I love that it explores the nature vs nuture theme ( before psychologist termed it). If Frankenstein (or anyone) had shown even a tiny bit of compassion, maybe things would have been different. 6y
BeansPage @MirrorMask I agree with you there. It would have been a completely booked had somebody shown the monster a little bit of compassion and kindheartedness. But why do you think they didn't? 6y
RenePenn Loved The Book Thief 6y
MirrorMask @TheReadingMermaid They've been conditioned to fear what is different. In Frankenstein's case, however, he realized too late that he was dabbling in things he had not business meddling with. 6y
CaroPi I read the book thief and Frankenstein. My favorite is Frankenstein because of the message it carries. Is timeless. It shows how abandonment transform people in monsters. Also because is a good critic to the science. At what point is the limit? 6y

Pickpick

You know when you pick up a book just on a whim and you give it a chance and it turns out to be something pretty amazing? Yeah, that‘s what this little gem of all the feels was for me. I 💗 Tiffany Sly!

Sorry I forgot to post this yesterday 😝 here is Section 4. Much more interesting books this time. I think this section will be a lot more laid back.

Was tagged by the industrious and #inspiring @TheReadingMermaid for this so I'm doing it:
1. My fave book is Sweet Tooth by Ian McEwan because...because... ok there are too many reasons. Just go read it.
2. No. I fall in love with a new one every time I read.
3. Graceling. I am sick to death of man-bashing combat queens.
4. I reread old faves because it makes me feel centered and beats valium. 😂

Bostonmomx2 I haven‘t read any of those. 😳 6y
MirrorMask Reading The Iliad and The Odyssey was strange because while I've never read them, I knew both stories so I was a little taken aback by the structure of them both. The Iliad does not end with the Trojan horse or the fall of Troy, but with Hector's death. The Odyssey does not pick up where the The Iliad leaves off, but starts with Telemachus as an adult with Odysseus on the island with Calypso. 6y
MirrorMask I only read The Iliad and The Odyssey. I planned on reading Moby Dick, but I'm in the process of moving, so I haven't gotten much reading done (which is why I've been absent from Litsy). I enjoyed the poems by Homer, but I really wish I read them first before learning more about Greek mythology. I was expecting more detail, but I didn't realize that occurred long after Homer. 6y

MirrorMask Thanks to Madeline Miller , my favorite characters are Achilles and Circe. 6y
Bronte_Chintz I have done my usual and started Moby Dick and not finished. I‘ve done this so many times and I‘m determined to finish it one day! It‘s a classic and I love classics but it‘s one I just can‘t seem to get through. I do however love and still love the Iliad and the odyssey. I‘ve read these a couple of times and I will always rate them. Mythology💖 6y
cewilf I enjoyed Moby Dick. I read for a grad class and it was great to revisit. Some sections are tough to get through though! And I read Call of the Wild. I teach it every year but it was nice to read just for myself! 6y
cewilf I didn‘t get to Twenty Thousand Leagues, but I have it on my TBR! Favorite character is definitely Buck. I love the perspective. 6y
