dabbe @TheSpineView I even searched an essay question I used to give my students on HAMLET, and it produced a 5-paragraph essay that I would have been THRILLED to have a student write. I don't envy the teachers having to deal with this now, too. 2y
bthegood @dabbe the poem is (scary) good. The turnitin programs have a way to detect if papers are AI - so that helps, but now I just do more in class writing - I don't really mind AI if it is to enhance or help a student get started, but I don't want it to replace learning how to write, think critically, and put ideas together 😬It's a balancing act - accepting that the technology is here and finding ways to use it that are helpful, not harmful . 2y
dabbe @bthegood You are doing exactly what I hope I would do. It's here, it's helpful, let's find a good way to use it, kids. Now it seems we revert to the “timed writing“, which is an excellent talent AP students need to conquer, and the in-class writing for all. Do you have them handwrite first? I wish I was in your class! 😍😍😍 2y
bthegood @dabbe yes, handwrite first, sometimes turn in handwritten, I let them do a rough draft and then rewrite - I wish we had a Litsy class - the people here would be great students!! 🙂 2y
