Just got home from my youngest son‘s Reg‘l Ctr annual appt. The SW usually comes to us, but I thought it would be easier to go there. When we got home, he did not know where we were. Because it was not a normal place he goes, in that 2 hours (incl commute) he had become so disoriented I had to take his hand to lead him. It reminds me that my kids are the people this admin hates. I never have the privilege to be non-political.

Leftcoastzen Hugs 🫂 to you and yours , such evil BS. 1mo
ncsufoxes 💓 , same here. I have 3 neurodiverse kids, 1 of which is Autistic. He‘s a smart kid but I don‘t think he‘ll ever be independent. I have to be political because they have made my kids lives political. When their ability to access services & programs is dependent upon funding or some politician having an ounce of understanding of what my life is like or the hoops that parents have to jump through, you have to be political. It‘s f-n exhausting 1mo

willaful @ncsufoxes I hear you. My adult daughter is autistic and gets a lot of services. Or did. Who knows now. 🤬 1mo

IriDas @lil1inblue Thank you. 1mo
IriDas @Leftcoastzen It is. And so unnecessary. 1mo
IriDas @ncsufoxes I have two autistic and one other with disabilities. It really is exhausting, isn‘t it? Between the politics and how evil the insurance companies are, I really have nothing left most days. 1mo
IriDas @willaful That‘s scary. It‘s already hard to get services. I used to think we‘d be safe in California, but CHLA is cowing to the admin over trans issues, what will they do now? Just dump all their Medicaid patients? And Newsom is recommending more cuts to disability services. Gotta keep the rich happy. (edited) 1mo
IriDas @CBee Thanks. It‘s all more than a bit too much today. Also, I think I accidentally deleted your comment. I was trying to edit mine and now yours is gone. :( do you mind reposting it? 1mo
CBee @IriDas sure! I was just offering solidarity as I also have an autistic child (11). Mentioned if you, @ncsufoxes and @willaful ever wanted to email about experiences I‘d be open and available ♥️ 1mo
IriDas @CBee that would be very nice. I do not have really any support, though I do have a few friends at work now who kind of get it. But it‘s not the same as people who know the long haul we are all in for. 1mo

Amiable It‘s not enough, but sending love and virtual hugs to you and yours. I‘m so sorry our country is repeatedly and so thoroughly failing its most vulnerable citizens. ☹️😖💙 1mo

dabbe I am so sorry that you have to fight so hard in this current administration. Holding you and your family in my thoughts. 💙✊💙 1mo

Bookwomble ❤️♾️❤️ I'm AuDHD - Neurodivergent solidarity from Britain! ✊🏻 We get some of the same oppressive rhetoric and attacks on funding here, too. I'm lucky enough that I work in a job where I can offer some support to affected people. Sending you and your family virtual good vibes 💟 1mo

4 ⭐ This was a very wild and graphic novel that should be in classrooms for all grades. It‘s about a young boy named Lucas who is nonverbal. We see this story play out both from his parents, and from Lucas‘s point of view. Lucas ‘s family takes him on the train to go see a parade. On the train, he makes friend, and ends up helping find her lost parents during the parade. He does this all while dealing with his own fears, anxiety, nonverbal

LibrarianRyan communication. This book was short and well done but makes all his points and would be a great educational tool for kids that might need help understanding a nonverbal friend or classmate. 2y

Neurodiversity is one of my favourite words. We are all wired a little bit differently. I liked the comparison to biodiversity.

Another work read done and dusted. Some great strengths-based ideas in this 2012 classic. 📗🤓☑️

tpixie Great name. And so important. 4y

This heartwarming RF/MF story written by a new author. This story is all about inclusion as a little boy struggles with his physically disability. I would use this book as a RT for characters to be the animals in the story. RT is a great tool for students to learn fluency according to the resource readingrockets.org. The UDL strategies include 5.1 & 2.5 as the story is portrayed as a play.

HappyMaddy The ESOL strategy I would implement is 11, using vocabulary in meaningful context & 45 as a more hands on activity bringing the story to life in RT. #UCFLAE3414SP20 5y
DrSpalding Reading Rockets is another high-quality resource! I am thrilled you turned this into a readers theater script as noted in your English learner strategy. 5y
