pickOn reread this is a richer novel than I remembered.
Interestingly, this time around Heathcliff is an even more sympathetic character and Cathy more terrible! 😳 He‘s dispossessed body & soul and ultimately not even revenge is his to hold. Only Cathy‘s “love” (if we can call it that) is genuinely his; one can hardly blame him for being maniacal.

Ruthiella I‘ve only read it twice. On my first read I don‘t think I did much pondering, I just took it all at face value. But when I read it a second time, I thought “Why should I believe anything Nellie Dean says”? 6d
