Today my heart is…guarded. On one hand, the news is horrible, and the situation in LA is yet another issue of disagreement in the household. On the other hand, I was born in California, so if they secede perhaps I could apply for birthright citizenship? #mentalhealthmonday

Kerrbearlib Perhaps! Where were you born in California, if you‘re willing to share? I used to have family in the Fresno area, but they moved back east. 6d
Susanita @Kerrbearlib My dad was in the Navy, and I was born in Monterey while he was stationed there. 6d

ncsufoxes We lived in San Diego for 11 years. My kids grew up there. It‘s devastating to watch what‘s happening in LA. California will always be a special place to us. 6d

I usually like Kasie West's YA fare because she writes characters whose problems feel real/regular to me. There's drama, but it's not over the top. Like most of her books, we have a MC who needs to learn to get out of her comfort zone a little, find some balance in her life, and be willing to wrestle some of her inherent prejudices. There's also some great snark and fun characters. An enjoyable read, even if it didn't really bring anything new ⬇

Thank you so much for this wonderful box @Avanders

The books look great for dark night reading, you sent all of my favorite treats, and the socks are so fun. I really love the adopt a ghost. I will take my new responsibility seriously 👻👻👻

Good, entertaining, fast-paced mystery. Fairly typical plot: teenager makes a podcast to investigate a murder from the past. I guessed the killer pretty easily. But, this is a book for teens, and I am not one, so it's a pick.

When 8th grader Anna moves to a new town, she is brought to social awareness by trying to uncover a mystery - why Rachel Riley, who used to be well-liked, has become a pariah. Plot is built with excerpts of podcasts, emails, websites, texts. Well done

Anybody else adding new books to their TBR with these prompts. Here‘s another one I haven‘t heard of that looks pretty good and is now in my Kindle. #LuckyInLove #Bouquet

Not quite half way through. The plot is off the rails, but I do want to know what happened to Anna (Sophie?) and how Gretchen is involved. I don‘t think I will like it.
