Mehso-so

3 ⭐This book seems to start in the middle of the story. It‘s about a young teacher who has a new assignment and she‘s going to go teach school in the middle of the Amazon. One night the rain is coming and destroys all of her books and the community helps create new ones out of cloth and embroidery. And she realizes that these books are just as important as the books she had used before. The story is nice and interesting however, it is very long.

Bear Is Never Alone | Marc Veerkamp

Mehso-so

3 ⭐Bear is a masterful piano player. All the animals in the forest sit around and listen and when bear wants to take a break all they say is more, more, more! But all bear wants is solitude. After yelling and arguing the other animals scatter. But the zebra stays behind, offering bear a story. This book is lovely, but it feels unfinished. The illustrator is a master artist, bringing black, red and white to help set a theme and a tone for the story

This is a cool book of animals made with flower petals, leaves, & other plant parts. I loved so many of the illustrations but decided to go with the unicorn for this post. 😄

robinb That‘s beautiful! What a great premise. 1mo

This is adorable. A little bunny makes the l o n g trek down the hall to check on his Dad, since his Dad forgot to check on him. The illustrations are faded and fuzzy and perfect for a dreamy, time for bed book.

🌸Spring Vibe: No Barfing on the Flowers!*🌸

How do I love spring? Let me count the ways…

Bunnies, blooms, poetry, & the very first dip of my bare toes in the Atlantic since the previous year. Never mind reading peacefully while the rain patters on the windows and the rooftop. Or riding my bike while the wind whips through my hair & the sun warms my skin. I could weep. 🥹

Happy #SpringEquinox!

*Real photo I snapped while camping one year. 😆

monalyisha @vivastory! Heck yes! I was a fan before meeting my husband but they‘re his favorite band (and he‘s a musician so he‘s always listening to, playing, and seeing music), so now they‘re a constant presence in my life! 1mo

Two New Years | Richard Ho

Pickpick

The author draws inspiration from his personal experience to show the similarities between Judaism and Chinese culture by highlighting the Rosh Hashanah and Lunar New Year traditions. Winner of the Sydney Taylor Book Awards 2024, it‘s a great picture book with vibrant illustrations to share with young readers, to learn about different cultures and reflect on customs that intertwine so beautifully. The back matter is very informative and helpful.

Dog | Shaun Tan

Getting through my Shaun Tan fix. This book was wonderful and totally heart warming. Graphics were soft and beautiful and the words just made me sigh. It's about a dog and his/her owner and how they find each other no matter what. Just a simple wonderful book.
