I‘ve owned this volume for a long time and just never took the time to sit down and read it. So here I am at damn near midnight starting a new book. #marlonjames #blackhistorymonth #booklover

My small but mighty book haul from yesterday‘s author event. Of course I bought a book for her to sign. And then two more jumped into the pile. I was planning to browse, but hit my dollar limit in the first five minutes. So I started reading the top two books. Seriously need that snow day the weatherman is talking about for Wednesday!

SilversReviews I LOVED The Lost Girls of Paris, but I LOVE all of Pam Jenoff‘s books. ENJOY all of them. 8mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage @SilversReviews I went to hear her speak yesterday, and I‘m impressed with her knowledge and background. I listened to The Orphan‘s Tale this week also. Still processing my feelings for review, but it wasn‘t a five-star read for me. Good though, for sure. And looking forward to the new one, which I‘ve heard is even better. 8mo
Cinfhen Was Marlon James at the event!?!??!? I have a MAJOR crush on him 8mo

Yo...Did I inadvertently purchase an autographed copy of #TheBookOfNightWomen?! I can‘t read this signature at all lol, but I‘m gonna tell myself it belongs to the author. I read this book soon after it debuted, but I‘m revisiting it again this month for #AfrikanahBookClub. Definitely a page-turner. #MarlonJames #blackwomenread #wellreadblackgirl #nowreading

Seansworth An Interrupted Life is one of those books that I didn't think anybody else knew about despite how much it's helped me through. Cheers to validation. Haha 3y

This is a story of a slave girl named Lilith and a few other women on a Jamaican sugar cane plantation who eventually plan something crazy. All of the women have very interesting yet sad stories that explain why they are who they are.

The Jamaican dialect is sometimes hard to follow at the beginning and there is a lot of detailed graphic violence. Despite this I really enjoyed the book.

Donna_sBookMinute I once owned this book; but I don't think I read it. Your comment about the Jamaican dialect prompted me to listen to a sample of the audiobook. As expected, the audio is a great way to experience this title. I still wanted a print edition. Not wanting to be placed into the library's hold queue, I found a great deal for both on Amazon/Audible. (edited) 3y

ramyasbookshelf How is this going? If it is not too heavy, I'll start it now too.. 3y
ReadinginBhutan Sorry abt the previous post... Didn't realize I posted half of what I wanted to say... The book is good... Im enjoying it. The beginning is a bit too much with the characters, dialect and it gets right into it. But pass a few pages... It's fun :) 3y
