-7 here in Michigan today, but we‘re warm from the glow of our first playoff win in 32 years! I‘m planning a day of reading and tea. I need to post challenge pics and my bingo card too. Stay warm, MittenLittens, and all who are in the track of blizzards and frigid temps!

TheSpineView Yikes! If a day is in the mid 40s here people think we have moved Antarctica.😅 3mo
MittenGirlPeach @TheSpineView we don‘t get weather like this as often anymore, but it is COLD out there. Our old English sheepdog was like—“yeah, no. Did my business, now let‘s go in Dad!” 3mo

RamsFan1963 @MittenGirlPeach Congrats on the Lions victory on Sunday. I hated to see my Rams lose, but if it had to happen, I'm glad it was Goff and the Lions they lost to and not the Cowgirls. 3mo
MittenGirlPeach @RamsFan1963 awww, thank you! Now we get to host another game, which is fabulous. Sooo happy for Jared too. 3mo
RamsFan1963 @MittenGirlPeach The Lions will have no problem with the Bucs, so I'm excited to see them play the 49ers (probably) in the NFC Championship game 3mo
MittenGirlPeach @RamsFan1963 🤞! So hope you‘re right! This season has been super stressful. We‘re not used to so much being on the line! 3mo

A Kiss Like This | Laurence Anholt

I am late in posting Friday night Animal read. These were some of my son‘s favorite books. I used to say “Bunny my honey” to him, his dad‘s family nickname was Lion, & we loved Feathers & Fur,& we adapted the practice of “ The Kissing Hand” when he started preschool. He loved these rituals & reading these books. It was soothing for me to reread & dwell on memories that I had not thought of in ages Truly #midwintersolace #fridaynightshare #animal

The Lion and the Mouse | Aesop, Jerry Pinkney

I enjoyed reading this book because the characters represent something deeper than a lion and a mouse. The lion is kind to the mouse, so the mouse returns the favor. I think students could gain a good lesson from this kindness.

The Lion and the Mouse | Aesop, Jerry Pinkney
Pickpick

This is an example of a fable. This story is about a mouse who is frightened by an owl and in running away he runs into a lion. The lion set the mouse free and the mouse goes home to tell his family about his adventure. The lion is then walking through the jungle when he is captured by rope. The mouse then returns the favor by chewing through the rope and setting the lion free.

“I will not spare you today!“ The weak mouse, afraid, begged for mercy before the lion, “Please forgive me, Lord. If you let me go, someday, I will repay you for your kindness. I will do my best to help you!“

The Lion and the Mouse | Aesop, Jerry Pinkney

This book would be great to use in the classroom with new or struggling readers because of its limited use of words in the story. It would be a great book to use in a morning meeting because of the huge moral that it teaches, while also not requiring a lot of brain power at the beginning of the day.

Pickpick

The Lion and the Mouse is a fable that teaches about the morals of love, kindness, and trust. Although there are not many words, it teaches the moral through the detailed illustrations. It can also be described as a Beast tale, because of the way the animals are the main characters and how they are described.

“Scratch, Scratch” this quote shows the kind deed that the mouse has to the lion.
