7th book in the series. A woman‘s skeleton is found during renovation of Chadleigh Hall in Devon. Wesley‘s archaeologist friend, Neil, is investigating a ship wreck from 1772. I love how the historical story ties into the present day story in the end. The question is: how old is the skeleton? Interesting characters and plot line. Looking forward to next book. Recommend to mystery lovers.

Gerry Heffernan believes the Dane‘s disappearance is linked to brutal robberies. I loved the tie in of the historical Viking story with the present. Murderer was a surprise with lots of suspects. Looking forward to the next book. Recommended.

This was book 3 in the Wesley Peterson series. There are two time lines running through this story. One from 1475 and one from (1969-1999) which tie together in the plot. An archaeological dig finds a body from 1475 who had been hanged from a yew tree and the 1999 body is found hanging from a yew tree. Is the present murder an execution as in the past or murder?
Unputdownable. Plots interesting, tie into history. Unique characters. Recommended.

Norman Openheim is an American veteran of the D Day Landings. Archaeologist, Neil Watson, finds his body in the ruins of an old chantry chapel. DS Wesley Peterson is called in for help. Norman's wife, Dorinda, and her friend, Todd, offer a familiar motive for murder.
Started slowly and had too many characters who were red herrings. The reveal was presented and everything fell into place. Recommend this to those who like procedural mysteries.

DS Wesley Peterson has his hands full when a child goes missing and a young woman is brutally murdered. Then archaeologist, Neil Watson, unearths the skeletons of a strangled woman and a new born baby. These deaths are linked by jealousy, sexual obsession and desperate longing. I enjoyed Ellis' Plantagenet series but this one does not disappoint. I'm looking forward to reading book 2. Highly recommend this book to those who love mystery thrillers.

I read this series with a group on LibraryThing and we have enjoyed each installment. Very sad to see the series coming to an end. Joe Plantagenet needs to have some type of meaningful relationship. Past secrets need to be revealed. Pick up first book, Seeking the Dead, and you won't be disappointed. Characters are very believable. Plots are quite complex. Lots of twists keep the pages turning. Highly recommend for psychological mystery lovers!
