The Skeleton Room
The Skeleton Room | Kate Ellis
8 posts | 5 read | 1 to read
When workmen converting former girls' boarding school, Chadleigh Hall, into a luxury hotel discover a skeleton in a sealed room, DI Wesley Peterson and his boss, Gerry Heffernan are called in to investigate. But within minutes they have a second suspicious death on their hands: a team of marine archaeologists working on a nearby shipwreck have dragged a woman's body from the sea. And it becomes clear that her death was no accident. The dead woman's husband may be linked with a brutal robbery of computer equipment but Wesley soon discovers that the victim had secrets of her own. As he investigates Chadleigh Hall's past and the woman's violent death, both trails lead in surprising directions and matters are further complicated when a man wanted for a murder in London appears on the scene, a man who may know more about Wesley's cases than he admits

Wesley Peterson number 7. A skeleton is found in a hidden room. And a body is found in the water, pushed or jumped off a cliff. Wesley has 2 cases to consider, along with all the usual archaeological stuff. Another interesting book in the series

It is cold and windy today- freeze last night.
Both of these books in the Wesley Peterson series are excellent.TSR features the discovery of an old skeleton in a boarded up room when a building is undergoing renovations. Then a body is found by archeologists who are working on a shipwreck.TPM involves the reopening of a cold case,a vicar‘s murder, threats to a supermarket, a school for foreign adults & a medieval plague pit-what are their links?

MicheleinPhilly I was outside in a t-shirt yesterday. This morning I had to pull the winter coat out again. 🙄 3y

7th book in the series. A woman‘s skeleton is found during renovation of Chadleigh Hall in Devon. Wesley‘s archaeologist friend, Neil, is investigating a ship wreck from 1772. I love how the historical story ties into the present day story in the end. The question is: how old is the skeleton? Interesting characters and plot line. Looking forward to next book. Recommend to mystery lovers.

Andrew65 Great review, I enjoyed this one, and kept me guessing right up to the end. Although at times hard to keep all the characters right. This one as longer and more in-depth than previous ones. 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 Yes I agree it was a bit more complicated than the others 4y
Crazeedi @EadieB so this is a good series? I'll be checking it out 4y

Crazeedi @EadieB 🥰 have a good day my dear friend 4y
EadieB @Crazeedi You too! She actually has 2 series that are both good. 4y
Andrew65 @Crazeedi We have read two of her series so far and both are good. The other series is a much shorter series and is set in a fictional York and has a bit of a ghostly theme along side the detective story. At first was questioning this slightly but works and they were excellent. Joe Plantagenet Series. @EadieB 4y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 thanks for info, I will look for them. Which one should I start with, the one you tagged??? 4y
EadieB @Crazeedi Yes I would start with the book Andrew tagged as that series is shorter. I agree with everything @Andrew65 said. 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB yes start with the tagged book. @Crazeedi 4y

The woman in the red T-shirt lay on the sharp grey rocks far below; distant and tiny, like a small fish caught in the teeth of some gigantic sea creature.

Bookzombie This instantly made me think of the redshirt characters that die in Star Trek. 🙂 4y

A skeleton is found in a sealed room as a former girls' boarding school is being renovated to become a hotel, a body is found in the sea near an 18th century wreck, and a lorryload of computers is hijacked and the computers stolen.

Some people's roles were fairly obvious right from the start but there were still enough surprises. There were hints of drama to come in Wesley's private life later in the series, which I hope are not realised.
