I‘m thinking of doing a giveaway when I reach #5kLitfluence but I don‘t have any idea on how to go about it! Can someone give me some advice?

JoScho Just pick a hashtag that you can easily search and some people write down names and draw out of a hat. I made a list of everyone who entered my giveaway and numbered it then used a random number generator to select the winners. 6y
Literary_Siren @JoScho awesome! Thanks so much! 6y
JoScho Of course. Just make sure the hashtag is unique so you can make sure you don‘t miss anyone. 😊 6y

LoverofLit You're only 40 points away. Congrats! 👏 6y
MelissaSue81 I am almost to 10k, and have been wondering the same thing. Also don‘t know what to give away? 6y
Avanders Also tag @LitsyHappenings so it can be reposted, if you like ☺️ 6y
Literary_Siren @MelissaSue81 same here. I‘m going to have to go through my books and bookish goodies. 6y
Literary_Siren @Avanders thank you! I‘ll do that. 6y
LiterRohde @Literary_Siren & @MelissaSue81: I did my first giveaway recently - #InspirationalGiveaway - if you haven‘t seen it. Maybe some ideas there. The top post has a link to the online spinner I used. I feel funny even saying “Hey, go look at what I did!” So, ignore all this if you want. 6y
corycatelyn I'm planning my first giveaway too so this is relevant to me 😊 6y
Dragon 👍😀🎉 6y
Literary_Siren @corycatelyn awesome! I‘ll keep my eye out for it! 6y

My family inspires me. My husband is a hard worker and wonderful husband and father. My kids work hard and strive to do well in every endeavor. They inspire me to set a good example for them. They also inspire us as parents to set a good example of what love looks like. #inspirationalgiveaway @LiterRohde - thanks for the chance to win in your cool giveaway! And congrats on the huge milestone!

Thanks @LiterRohde for your #inspirationalgiveaway! I‘d love to own “Wild Things: The Joy of Reading Children‘s Literature as an Adult.”

I work in a Children‘s library & the most rewarding part of the job is inspiring a love of literature in kids. The best way to do that is to be passionate about the books they read - & I AM. Some of the most beautiful, lyrical, playful, heartbreaking & influential books I‘ve ever read have been children‘s books.

monalyisha I wish it were more commonplace for adults to continue reading children‘s books; it is, as the title of the tagged book suggests, an absolute joy. From delighting in detailed illustrations, to reminding yourself that magic & wonder exist, I truly believe that reading children‘s literature makes me a better, happier, more empathetic & aware human being. (edited) 6y
LiterRohde Agreed. Though my kids are more YA than children‘s books. My favorite is when I start talking to them about a book they are reading or about a book they might like. I get looks like “How does this old guy know about this?” Happens with music and movies too. Like when I do a lesson on figurative language using Lil Wayne. The looks are priceless. (edited) 6y
monalyisha @LiterRohde Ha! I know less about Li‘l Wayne & more about, say, pangolins, & slime. But I think we‘re coming from the same place. 🙌🏻 6y

Thanks @LiterRohde for the chance to win in your #InspirationalGiveaway. Congratulations on the milestone! 🎉
(continued in the comments...)

CoffeeNBooks My inspiration is the future generations. I continue to teach so I might be able to change lives and provide my students with the knowledge to be successful in whatever they choose to do. They inspire me to be a better teacher when they want to discuss books, analyze news articles, or just want to discuss things like how to pick what college to go to, how to stay out of debt, or how to buy a house. 6y
CoffeeNBooks For inspiration from my TBR list, any of the YA novels would relate to my students being my inspiration. I read Ya novels becuase: they're what my students are reading; I can recommend them to my students when they don't know what to read; it reminds me of the things that are going on in their lives and in their world, that the things they deal with are in many ways a lot different than the things I dealt with when I was their age 25 years ago. 6y
CoffeeNBooks Sorry for the really, really long post. I get like this when I talk about teaching. 😃 6y

SilversReviews Congrats on 10,000!! 6y
LiterRohde @CoffeeNBooks I totally understand that one! I actually have people shut down when I talk about issues surrounding my kids, their lives, and their education. I get so passionate they quit talking to me because they think I‘m angry or something when all it is that I really care. Thanks for the entry. 6y
CoffeeNBooks @LiterRohde Yep! At some point, I realize that whoever I'm talking to has that glazed-over look in their eyes and is no longer listening to my teaching stories. 🤣 6y

My mother and father were both children of alcoholics . They both went to college for a time and are very well educated people. They are also successful parents! They have raised 3 of 4 college graduates and 1 that went to college but decided motherhood was her calling. I was the first to graduate college with a history degree. Running out of space so ended up being a teacher because of my mom. @LiterRohde #InspirationalGiveaway

LiterRohde Thank you for your inspirational entry! “Can‘t choose your parents or your childhood, but you can choose your own direction.” From a poem called The Bottom Line, Author Unknown. 6y

@LiterRohde #inspirationalgiveaway

I‘m going to cheat a bit...and post this picture of my friend , Martha. Now she is 105 1/2. She grew up very poor, left school after 8th grade to work as a maid, her husband left her during the depression with a 1 year old son, her only child died at the age of 45. She walked out on an abusive husband at age 60. She is a survivor and yet loves life. She lives in a nursing home now and is “all there”.

AmyG I visit and we talk books, cats, birds and The Big Bang Theory. She inspires me every day. She teaches me how to live life with grace and patience. 6y
Libby1 Wonderful. ❤️ 6y
Kaye Wow, Amy. Now THAT is what I mean about TOUGH. I admire people like that. Life keeps knocking them down, but they FIGHT to stay upright . How did you meet her in the first place? You‘re very fortunate. Elderly people can teach us so much about life, where they made mistakes, how they achieved success. 6y

ReadingsByTheC That is amazing 6y
AmyG @Libby1 @ReadingsByTheC It is amazing. Martha‘s amazing and wonderful! @Kaye I met her when she turned 100. My husband was Mayor of our town and the town honored her. We became friends because of books...we loved reading. And cats. Of course. ;) 6y
Kaye What type books does she like, and is her eyesight still ok to read ? Large print books or regular? I often dread the day I need to go to LP books. Ever notice the selection ? Yuk. 6y
AmyG @Kaye Would you believe she started reading large print at 102? She doesn‘t read as much these days because she has an eye watering issue. But yes...large print selection sucks. That‘s why we have ereaders! I wanted to get her one but she said no. 6y
TrishB She is amazing 💕 6y
LiterRohde Awesome! 105.5? Never would have guessed. Guess that says something about the positive fighting spirit. Thanks for sharing! 6y
RadicalReader @AmyG your friend might enjoy some wonderful audiobooks to listen to. That is such a remarkable story truly left me speechless I continue to wish her well with all the accomplishments she had made in life, 105.5 is ASTOUNDING 6y
AmyG @RadicalReader She is a bit deaf, so audiobooks wouldn‘t work. I have to speak loudly...and even then I‘m not sure she hears all I say. She‘s an awesome lip reader if you are close enough so she can see you. ;) 6y
RadicalReader @AmyG I have always found people who can lip read far more mins blowing than I could ever imagine truly takes a dedicated person who is observant to do that 6y
Suet624 She is so inspiring! 6y
