#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Book 16: Ch.11-15: It‘s so strange to see Roarke lose control. I don‘t know - have we seen him drunk before? Maybe tipsy but I don‘t think drunk. Poor guy. His past always hits him like a ton of bricks. Eve is used to him taking care of her - we see a role reversal in this book. I‘m less interested in the case than in the personal aspects this time. But despite being distracted Eve is still coming closer to the killer.

LiseWorks I love to see Eve in this role. She also has to deal with Summersett. Loved the Trina treat for Summersett 7d

Ddzmini I agree with being more interested in how Eve and Roarke are handling their problems… but the case is definitely interesting 7d

LitStephanie The banter with Peabody, McNab, and Dallas is fun. It is interesting how Dallas likes Hastings--maybe because she sees a bit of herself in him? Both are bossy, tactless, and rude. He is just much more extreme. I think the killer is either the naked model lady or Angie, so we can rule thd 2d

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Book 16 Ch.6-10: Poor Roarke. He never handles his past well (and can you blame him?) but he should not shut Eve out. She won‘t stand for that. I‘m glad she‘s planning to get to the bottom of what‘s bothering him or kick his ass trying. The case is interesting and there are a lot of interesting characters Eve comes across. ⬇️

StayCurious There is another victim and Eve has to work the case without allowing her personal life to get in the way. Good luck with that. 2w

LiseWorks I felt bad for Roarke. All of a sudden, he finds put that maybe his mom didn't walk away 2w

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Book 16: Ch.1-5: Eve starts off the book in a happy mood b/c Summerset, her nemesis, is heading away for vacation. Unfortunately his plans get derailed by a broken leg and Roarke is faced with Summerset‘s fragility in a way. Eve gets tipped to a murder by Nadine and finds a young college student as the victim. ⬇️

StayCurious Eve starts delving into the victim‘s life which causes her to think about her own. Peabody is thinking of moving in with Mcnab. Are they ready for that big step? 3w

LitStephanie Eve's joy about the coming absense of Summerset is pretty funny, as is her ongoing horror over Mcnab winning over her sensible aide. I like the comic relief. 3w

LiseWorks I actually felt bad for the cat. I know he didn't mean to be on the way, but sometimes they just are. I found Eve so funny with Peabody discussion of McNabb moving in, etc. And Eve being scared of Trish. 3w

TheAromaofBooks I kind of loved the little showdown between Eve and Nadine. The two of them are actually really similar in a lot of ways, but have chosen different paths. Good to see that McNabb has fully recovered from his serious injuries in the last book!! 3w

Ddzmini I enjoyed the way this one started out with some joy… until Galahad tripped Summerset and caused trouble… then Eve gets a call from Nadine so she can‘t stay and help Roarke with Summerset‘s fall… but finding a body in a trash compactor that‘s sad 😔 (edited) 3w

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Book 15 Ch.16-22/review: Eve faces a lot of ethical and emotional questions in this book. She feels disillusioned with people who she thought were working with her on one side of the law. But when the justice system fails, is it right to take the law into your own hands? What if in doing so, you hurt people who get in the way? Eve faces threats to members of her own team - Trueheart, Mcnab, and Peabody. ⬇️

StayCurious So things are even more close to home. She butts heads with Roarke (as per usual), and climbs up the bureaucratic ladder where scandal awaits at the very top. This was an interesting case and an emotional book that once again brought us closer to our core group. 4w

StayCurious The more of these books I read the more I can‘t wait to see where these characters will go next. 4w

LiseWorks Same here. Eve is very much a go by the book kind of cop but she does ask Roarke to break the law when she feels she has no choice. A pregnant Mavis will be interesting in future books. 4w

TheAromaofBooks There were some interesting ethical questions in this one. While I did agree that no group of people should just be allowed to run around essentially lynching people, there is always that nagging question of what you do when the system fails - people who were in fact guilty but who got off anyway and are free to continue hurting others. It was hard to 100% disagree with Purity, even while recognizing that their methods were wrong. 4w

Ddzmini This was a great way to present how a group or organization can influence the public in agreeing with their perception of how to conduct executions of individuals that don‘t live up to their expectations or break laws … are they right or wrong… what happens when you are caught committing a crime they fell is against their beliefs… even if it‘s a simple crime like a financial crime… what then 4w

Ddzmini What if the crime is just not going along with the groups perceived ethical standards… that‘s why this was such a great read. 4w
