#DROP #DEAR #WeLoveBeverlyCleary
Today would have been her birthday and it's the day we celebrate drop everything and read.

BennettBookworm I was so saddened to hear of her passing but it‘s so beautiful the long life she lived. Her books are timeless! ❤️ 3y
mandarchy @BennettBookworm her life was truly something to celebrate. I loved reading her memoir, I might need to read it again. 3y
aperfectmjk Beverly Cleary is the reason I feel in love with reading. I just recently reread the Ramona Quimby series. A favorite! ❤ 3y
mandarchy @aperfectmjk my teacher read it to us in 4th grade. Such a good memory. 3y

Dear Girl, is an amazing #1 New York Times Bestseller RF and P book. Being written as a letter brings it a poetic and touching feel. This book is full of positive words to all girls, teaching them about self acceptance and self reflection. It also connects to the book Dear Boy, which I would suggest reading together as a RA.

OliviaBuck Using this RA from the author https://www.amykrouserosenthalfoundation.org/book-activities#..., students can group together and compare and contrast the letters written in each book. EL strategy 3- encourage self talk will fit perfectly with this book, as students are being encouraged to relate the the book. 3y
OliviaBuck UDL 9.3- develop self-assessment and reflection also fits well with this book, as students can reflect with one another what they have learned from this book, and how it relates to themselves. I absolutely loved reading this and suggest adding it AND Dear Boy to your classroom library! #ucflae3414sp21 3y
DrSpalding 10 stellar posts noted! You are summarizing the book, selecting appropriate teaching strategies and finding helpful resources that you can align with English learner and universal design principles. Very well done. If you have yet to do so… Look into this author a bit more! Sad but also inspiring! 3y
DrSpalding Another quick note… I just bought Dear, Teacher! I created a video read aloud for my seniors and shared it last Friday. This is a wonderful series of books! 3y

I don‘t know why, but I find this endlessly amusing, but I also think he has a point. I might switch sympathy for empathy, but to the same end.
