Dear Girl, is an amazing #1 New York Times Bestseller RF and P book. Being written as a letter brings it a poetic and touching feel. This book is full of positive words to all girls, teaching them about self acceptance and self reflection. It also connects to the book Dear Boy, which I would suggest reading together as a RA.

OliviaBuck Using this RA from the author https://www.amykrouserosenthalfoundation.org/book-activities#..., students can group together and compare and contrast the letters written in each book. EL strategy 3- encourage self talk will fit perfectly with this book, as students are being encouraged to relate the the book. 3y
OliviaBuck UDL 9.3- develop self-assessment and reflection also fits well with this book, as students can reflect with one another what they have learned from this book, and how it relates to themselves. I absolutely loved reading this and suggest adding it AND Dear Boy to your classroom library! #ucflae3414sp21 3y
DrSpalding 10 stellar posts noted! You are summarizing the book, selecting appropriate teaching strategies and finding helpful resources that you can align with English learner and universal design principles. Very well done. If you have yet to do so… Look into this author a bit more! Sad but also inspiring! 3y
DrSpalding Another quick note… I just bought Dear, Teacher! I created a video read aloud for my seniors and shared it last Friday. This is a wonderful series of books! 3y

This is an amazing story to read to your young girl. They also have a dear boy version as well I haven‘t read. In the story it encourages your little girl that she can be who she is and wants to be.

tpixie Earlier during COVID19, I saw a video in which Paris & her father talked about writing Dear Boy 👦🏼. I bought that book for my grandson and this book, Dear Girl 👧🏼 for my granddaughter. 3y

Bought this wonderful book for a gift, and I was tempted to keep it for myself!
It's written for children, but to me, the messages are just as important for adults to hear.( No matter which persuasion, or if you choose to live binary .)
Ofcourse, this one is aimed at “girls“, but the author wrote one called, “ Dear Boy“, as well.
The illustrations are very cute,too!

Another great book by one of my favorite children‘s authors. This story is so sweet and so personal to the author. What a great read with amazing illustrations to go along with it. This book is a realistic fiction picture book and a #1 New York Times best seller. I would also use this for an author study because of her story and connections to her work!

Hannacallaham For esol I would use 3. Encourage self-talk and 14. Simplify your speech by making it slower and redundant 4y
Hannacallaham For UDL I would use 2.5 and 3.1 4y

I ❤️ Amy Krouse Rosenthal‘s adult books. This was my first of her children‘s books and definitely did not disappoint. Both the message & the illustrations are beautiful. Wish this was out when my girls were young. I am going to have to get a copy for my granddaughter.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved this one! The lessons aren‘t super deep but nonetheless important. I want to share this with all my nieces and future daughter one day. I want to reiterate the part about intuition. It is SO important to listen to yourself when it feels wrong. Coming from personal experience, it is imperative to let your girls know that it‘s okay to say NO instead of being polite.

Picture Book: Letter “D”

I‘ve missed you, Litsy! My 5-year knocked my phone into some water, and I was without for several days. Thank goodness for insurance. Anyway, back to books: Losing Amy Krouse Rosenthal is such a sad thing for children‘s books. This is a gorgeous, empowering love letter to all girls, and I want all my daughters to read it. It is a celebration, and Amy left a beautiful legacy.

JaclynW Yay! I'm glad you have a working phone! I've wondered how this book was. It looked adorable. I will have to check it out. So sad about Amy Krouse Rosenthal. 6y
