Pickpick

Set in the Belgian Congo in the 1950s, this book deals with racism and colonialism disguised as a slowly revealed mystery. The author‘s parents were missionaries in the Congo, and she was born there, and she vividly describes the people and culture of the area. It was a little slow for me at times but overall it was interesting. #Booked2021 #CountryWhereUNPeacekeepersAre @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage

Pickpick

I‘ve given this a pick but it‘s one of those books that‘s really tough to read - war, tragedy, abuse, sadness. I‘m glad I read it though and I did learn a lot, although I had to research around the novel, as it assumes a lot of knowledge and doesn‘t always explain enough background.

Barbara - I‘ll send this one on to you next time I go to the PO.
