My penpals know my struggle with this audiobook. It is likely the most boring book I‘ve ever finished. However, it was great at one important thing: putting me to sleep! The author would have benefited from a more skillful editor to reduce repetition. I felt like I was in an eternal circle of hell hearing the same anecdotes about Charlemagne for 30 hours. Read at your own peril! 👑

I posted this 3 years ago , but @LeahBergen has me revisiting great spines .There are a kagillion editions of Bullfinch‘s Mythology, but when I found this old edition with a bold centurion (is there any other kind?) on the spine I had to buy it.

Another great addition to the Cotton Malone series. This was has Cotton determined to find out what happened to his father. It was a tough ride for Cotton physically and emotionally.

I have to say that I thoroughly missed Cassiopeia and Henrik though.

I hate how it goes back and forth between a travel narrative and a history book, but I do recommend it for anyone just getting into medieval history.

I want to learn more about the anti-Semitism of Richard I‘s reign. From what The Age of Chivalry describes it reminds me of the attacks on Jewish Americans in the last few years. Although denounced by those in power, nothing is really done to stop the hate.

I didn‘t realize in Gothic tradition, cathedrals form a cross. I‘ll have to look for this in Gothic cathedrals including Notre Dame.
