12 posts | 28 read | 18 to read
BONUS: This edition contains an excerpt from Steve Berrys The Columbus Affair and a Cotton Malone dossier. As a child, former Justice Department agent Cotton Malone was told his father died in a submarine disaster in the North Atlantic, but now he wants the full story and asks his ex-boss, Stephanie Nelle, to secure the military files. What he learns stuns him: His fathers sub was a secret nuclear vessel lost on a highly classified mission beneath the ice shelves of Antarctica. But Malone isnt the only one after the truth. Twin sisters Dorothea Lindauer and Christl Falk are fighting for the fortune their mother has promised to whichever of them discovers what really became of their fatherwho died on the same submarine that Malones father captained. The sisters know something Malone doesnt: Inspired by strange clues discovered in Charlemagne s tomb, the Nazis explored Antarctica before the Americans, as long ago as 1938. Now Malone discovers that cryptic journals penned in the language of heaven, inscrutable conundrums posed by an ancient historian, and the ill-fated voyage of his father are all tied to a revelation of immense consequence for humankind. In an effort to ensure that this explosive information never rises to the surface, Langford Ramsey, an ambitious navy admiral, has begun a brutal game of treachery, blackmail, and assassination. As Malone embarks on a dangerous quest with the sistersone that leads them from an ancient German cathedral to a snowy French citadel to the unforgiving ice of Antarcticahe will finally confront the shocking truth of his fathers death and the distinct possibility of his own.

My first finish for #20in4.

Another great addition to the Cotton Malone series. This was has Cotton determined to find out what happened to his father. It was a tough ride for Cotton physically and emotionally.

I have to say that I thoroughly missed Cassiopeia and Henrik though.

JamieArc I got a Kindle when they first came out and I happened to be studying abroad in France and this was the free book that came with it (why the 4th and not the 1st in the series I don‘t know). I remember not having high expectations for it, but really liked it. I should read the others. 2y
Mollyanna @JamieArc That is weird that they gave the fourth book as the freebie. I love the Cotton Malone series they are fast exciting reads. Cotton goes all around the world, so I feel like I‘m traveling with him. I definitely recommend the series. 2y

An interesting thought. I‘ve had many people lately tell me that they have chosen to be vegan and the benefits they have seen from it are amazing. Many of them have said their complexion has been so much better. Just a little food for thought. *see what I did there 😂*

Mehso-so

After the first few books in the series this one was a great disappointment! It seemed too long and too disjointed. The usual characters were missing (and were a big miss) and I didn't like the central characters in this book. Even Cotton seemed to show poor judgement and to be acting out of character. Hopefully they get back on track with the next book.

A gripping installment in the Cotton Malone thriller series. In discovering the real cause for his father's death aboard a submarine, he'll have to deal with Charlemagne, the Nazis, a pair of twin sisters, a treacherous admiral, ancient cathedrals, & a secret buried under Antarctica's ice. This is a series I would also compare to "The Da Vinci Code" and a more modern Indiana Jones. Page-turning fun! #PairWith: Spaten Optimator, bottles up, cold.

Chelsey This sounds good too! Hey, are you involved in the postal book club. I was wondering how you manage to include more readers than just 6. Do you just keep it going for longer? 8y
rachellayown Ooh, adding to my TBR! 8y
Thenovellife I daresay Steve Berry has done more for history & its preservation than Dan Brown. Not that dan browns books aren't enjoyable - they are. 8y
Lynnsoprano A Steve Berry I haven't read. Took a break from this series and got into some other things. Sounds like it's time to go back😀 8y
MrBook @rachellayown 😁👏🏻🙌🏻! @Thenovellife I will concur with both assertions 😎👌🏻👍🏻! @Lynnsoprano This is a good one 😁👏🏻👍🏻! @Chelsey lol, I organized the #LitsyGoesPostal Book Club, and it's rather far outside normal PBC parameters. We've far exceeded the 6-12, we have 33; & we've included Australia & Scotland within our ranks. We work on 6 week rotations, so we won't be getting our books & notebooks back until June 2020 😎👍🏻. 8y

MrBook Welcome to @Litsy ! We hope you enjoy your stay, I think you'll like it here 😎👍🏻. 8y
