While I generally liked this book and learned a lot about King, there are some choices she made in the writing of this memoir that made no sense. Tapestry is truly an iconic album — although that word is overused now — it‘s true in this case. Why did she spend so little time talking about it, it‘s development, and it‘s influence and so much time discussing a road dispute with her Idaho neighbors? #audiowalk

I was not aware that Carole King never really wanted to be a performer; James Taylor got her into it. This book is a little long, but I‘m still liking it. I got my walks in even though it looked like it was going to rain any second. #audiowalk

Megabooks Interesting!! 1y
KathyWheeler @Megabooks I thought so. She was apparently a real homebody. 1y

I had no idea that when Carole King was 17, she got married, and by 18, she had a baby. That‘s so young! She doesn‘t quite tell her story in a completely chronological manner, but brings in past and future events if they relate to the story she‘s telling. #audiowalk

We went to the beach today, so we listened to The Concrete Blonde on the trip. I continued to listen to A Natural Woman on my walk, which I‘m enjoying. King narrates and her voice is soothing. It was a gorgeous day today, but I‘m sure the rain will return. 😊. #audiowalk

bnp Glad you enjoyed the sun while it lasted. 1y

I actually started out my walk listening to Bomb Shelter, where, since I have epilepsy, I was especially interested in the story the author was telling about her son‘s first seizure. Then my book quit playing — I think because I‘d forgotten to download the book and was thus listening over my cellphone signal and got to a place where it wasn‘t good. So I switched to A Natural Woman (love Carole King). #audiowalk

Of rich and royal hue
An everlasting vision
Of the ever-changing view
A wond'rous woven magic
In bits of blue and gold
A tapestry to feel and see
Impossible to hold"

@dabbe beat me to it, but couldn't help adding a post of my well-worn piano music of Carol King's #Tapestry album. @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

This beautiful memoir was more like a 7-decade retrospective of the music industry. Wow! No wonder Carole spent 12 years writing it! Hard to believe how many popular songs Carole and first husband Gerry Goffin wrote. I couldn‘t help humming at the mention of “Chains,” “One Fine Day, “Natural Woman” and then some. Also loved the extra treat of Carole singing several songs a cappella on the audiobook. 🙌🏻

#LetsTravel #concert

The very first concert that I paid for was Carol King & James Taylor in Hartford Bushnell theatre in 1971. I was blown away by their music, harmony, camaraderie, & joy as they performed.

Palimpsest That sounds like it would have been an amazing concert to see! 5y
OriginalCyn620 I bet that was amazing! 5y
