The book, written in verse intermingled with sections of prose poetry, follows the illusions and disillusions of this second first love, this time with a woman. The result is sexy and vulnerable and beautiful.

Big Swiss: A Novel | Jen Beagin

I‘m pretty hyped about this year‘s #CampToB23 reads 💃💃 after last year‘s choices. I‘ve read Big Swiss, I have a copy of #InternationalBooker longlisted The Birthday Party and I‘ve been wanting to read the LaValle and the Urrea anyhow! The other two books I haven‘t heard of but I can‘t wait to find out.

It‘s almost as good as #CampLitsy23 🤪

Ruthiella Yeah, there‘s some nice crossover with our longlist. I will read Big Swiss, because I already have it out from the library, but I likely won‘t read the rest. I only have so much time to read and I‘m prioritizing our own tournament! 😃 11mo

Hooked_on_books I‘ll have to research some of these, which I love! The only one I‘ve read is Lone Women and it exceeded my expectations. I‘d rather not read Big Swiss, but I‘ll look into the others. I‘m glad you posted this! 11mo

Cinfhen I had the Fitzcarldo edition and I couldn‘t take the pretentious writing, never ending descriptive inner monologues and narrative style. It wasn‘t for me 🤷🏼‍♀️ 11mo

I am trying to read an #InternationalBooker shortlisted book a week and am now in the middle of Time Shelter. Afterwards I‘ll read some oldies off my TBR before I dive into my new books for #CampToB23.
The tagged one was shortlisted for the #BookerPrize years ago, a #Persephone just because and The Mandibles because I love Shriver!
