[Her father] saves sand from his seaside trips and stores it in the garage....Sometimes he'll give me a starfish in a cellophane bag as a present, but it's always painted some tacky, fluorescent color. In a back room, he has bins of mineral chunks and shells, in the sort of box used for screws in hardware stores. I once picked up a can full of white pumice stone chips that was labeled 'Moon.'

What I did in lockdown! Some of my #BorderlessBookclub stack.

We're crowdfunding for the next stage of the bookclub (attendance remains free - new members welcome)

Online discussions with the book's translator, followed by small group reader discussions. Discounts on the books, too. If you've ever wondered about the #translation process, or want to read more fiction from outside the US/UK....

This week‘s #BookReport. Yay, I read things!! Maybe not what I‘d planned, but...

I finished Minor Detail, for #BorderlessBookClub, but was Zoomed-out so didn‘t actually go. I‘m rubbish at bookclubs! I‘ll review it eventually. A book of two halfs by a Palestinian author - quite hard-hitting, but don‘t bail in the first half.

The Accusation is another tough read about lack of freedom. Short stories from North Korea. Continued with this one.

rockpools And I needed audio (STILL no reading glasses) so started When Dimple met Rishi - Dimple is a delight! Not too sure about Rishi yet... 3y
TrishB A good week 👍🏻 3y
Cinfhen I recently listened to this audiobook/ I LOVED IT!!! It‘s charming and delightful 3y
Cinfhen I‘m curious about the book written by the Palestinian author...need to further investigate 3y

Why is the cover I haven't got always the one I want?

The original version.

I am once again amazed at how much my fellow bookclub members get from the book. Fascinating discussion.

Less of a #weeklyforecast, more of an action plan this week. Time to step up on the challenge-front, and try and complete a few prompts. These are all in my ‘so big it‘s on the verge of toppling over‘ currently reading heap.

#Booked2020 - I think I could actually finish this year, which is amazing as I only started in season 2.
#BorderlessBookclub is on Thursday, and is one of those new things I hope sticks in the new normal. 👇🏻

rockpools I‘d like to finish 12 books for #ReadingEurope2020 before the end of the year. Completing the whole challenge is more of a long-term thing for me (I keep getting distracted by the rest of the world!), but I‘ve loved seeing what other people are reading.
Then there‘s #BBRC which runs to June. I have 24 more to read, but would love to read 6 more by the end of the year.

Cathythoughts #BorderlessBookclub sounds interesting ..... 4y
rockpools @Cathythoughts It‘s a free Zoom thingy for translated fiction - I‘ve only done a couple, but you get to ‘meet‘ the translator or occasionally the author. https://www.peirenepress.com/borderless-book-club/ 4y
