Life was definitely put on hold so I could finish this book. Was supposed to work out, do meal prep and start dinner.. whoops!

This book was so good! Obviously couldn‘t put it down. 3 different POVs and storylines and they were all fascinating! I didn‘t know much about this book going in and I think that was the perfect anxious way to read it!

#BOTMBacklist

Jeshara This is also in my BOTM backlist. Sounds good! I think it might be moving up the list. 3w

Here is my January TBR. Most of the books are for #NewYearWhoDis - I haven‘t picked up my library books and my B&N package hasn‘t been delivered yet, so I couldn‘t take a picture of my stack.

The tagged book is for the #HeReadSheReadPodcast buddy read
The Spy is for #LMPBC
Jane Eyre for #Classicschallenge2020
Lisa Jewell for #BOTMBacklist
#AgathaChristieClubR2
#BBBBC - rollover
#JanuaryTBR

Reviewsbylola I‘ve got to get started on #newyearwhodis. It will make up most of my January reading. 4w
JenlovesJT47 Hey, how do I join the Agatha Christie club? I coincidentally am at the same point in my reading so it‘s perfect timing! 4w
Laughterhp @JenlovesJT47 I would just periodically check @ferskner ‘s page. It‘s very unofficial. I think there is a monthly discussion post, but I didn‘t see one for December. 4w

ferskner @Laughterhp @JenlovesJT47 I'm so excited you want to join! I've traveling internationally for two weeks, but I'll post the questions when I get back early next week. I haven't had time to think about the book at all. 4w
JenlovesJT47 @ferskner thank you! I hope you‘re having fun on your trip 🤗 4w

I liked this book, however there were some things that brought down my enjoyment of it. The things I liked include are the friendships and how real they felt with the ups and downs, the grief was well done as was showing how life can go far from plans. What I didn‘t like was the timeline, she jumped ahead months/years but important things happened in between so she had to go back and tell us those things, it didn‘t flow well. #BOTM #BOTMBacklist

8little_paws Would you recommend it specifically on audio? I can get it via audio at my library and it's fairly high on my list. Or should I grab a paper copy instead? 5mo
Cityofamber @8little_paws I liked the audiobook, just make sure you pay attention to the dates so you know when the jumped a few years/months ahead :) 5mo
8little_paws Thank you! I was thinking of starting a new audiobook to listen to while I knit/crochet. Perhaps this'll be it. I find I can focus really well on audiobooks while crafting. 5mo

So my date with Michelle Obama was cancelled due to #snowmageddon in the #pnw 😕❄️. But that just means I have the opportunity to read lots & lots & lots while I‘m tucked away this weekend. I‘ve got lots of choices here - things for #192019 , some @gettbr picks, some #botmbacklist picks. The hard choice will be between hot cocoa or wine🤷🏻‍♀️

CoffeeNBooks The Great Alone was a great book! 12mo

My tentative #AugustTBR includes the three books I started in July (top row), which are all really good so far, a couple of NetGalley books that release on 8/7, a library book, and this month‘s #AgathaChristieClub selection, which I‘ll be listening to on audio. Hugh Fraser is the narrator and he‘s hands down my favorite Christie novel narrator. I also want to do the #BOTMBacklist challenge, but I don‘t know if I‘ll have time. 😔

When you sit down and realize all the #botm books you need to read to catch up on your backlist.

Lovesbooks87 I have like 8 books that I need to read. I told myself at the beginning of the year if I didn't read all the books the Month I get them that I can only get one book the next month. So far it has worked! 2y
stuck.in.the.stacks @Lovesbooks87 that's a good rule. I have no self restraint. 🤣 2y
Lovesbooks87 @felinesandfiction I understand I don't either. Every month I tell myself I am not going to fill my box and I do. Now I just need to start reading the books that I haven't read from the past year! 2y
Jess7 I have a large #botmbacklist to catch up on too! 2y
stuck.in.the.stacks @Jess7 it's an endless struggle! 2y

Fierce Kingdom | Gin Phillips
post image

Day 14 🤹🏻‍♂️ of #EmojiMadness made me think of #FierceKingdom by #GinPhillips based on the cover. It kind of looks like a #carnival to me. However, the full description mentions a #zoo, so I‘m not real sure about the cover matching the plot or the plot matching this prompt, but oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣 - “A novel about the primal and unyielding bond between a mother and her son, and the lengths she‘ll go to protect him.” #TBR #BOTM #BOTMBacklist

Ajessgirl Emma in the Night was SO good! Be sure to start on a weekend; otherwise you‘ll be a zombie at work. 2y
Jess7 Ok, great. I‘ve got you on the list @LazyDays 2y
The_Heeler_Booklife Emma in the Night is really good. I have some books in my TBR that are definite, but my TBR always changes. 2y
Bookishthoughts Thank you! 2y
TheLibrarian I look forward to seeing how you liked Red Clocks. It was my 2nd least favorite this year. 2y
Jess7 Ohhhh no! I‘m not a big dystopian fan- so that‘s not good news. I liked added it to a previous #botm box because of the #feminist message undertones and the comparisons to #TheHandmaidsTale.... what did you not like about it @TheLibrarian 2y
somebooksaround Bonfire has been on my TBR for a while! How do the Buddy Reads work? :) 2y
Jess7 @josteele - various #buddyreads are run differently. The #LitsyBuddyRead is hosted by @MinDea and myself ( @Jess7 ) from the @LitsyBuddyRead page. We have posted a suggested reading schedule. You use the hashtag whenever you post about reading the selected book (Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore) and then you join the open discussions we host once a week for the week‘s reading on the @LitsyBuddyRead page. We host a final discussion on 3/25 2y
Jess7 I keep a running list of which Littens are participating each month so we can tag them when we post the discussions to @LitsyBuddyRead - so if you want to join - let me know so I can add you to the list and start reading the first week‘s reading by 3/4. 🤗🤗 @josteele 2y
somebooksaround Wow that‘s a fantastic idea! This sounds awesome, I‘d love to join in! 2y
Jess7 Ok great! I‘ll add you to the list! @josteele 2y
TheLibrarian @Jess7 Pretty much everything 😂 It‘s a good idea but not executed well. 2y
TheResistance Red Clocks is on my tbr list too! 2y

The Wife Between Us | Sarah Pekkanen, Greer Hendricks
Pickpick

I enjoyed #TheWifeBetweenUs a lot. It was a very quick read. The beginning is incredibly suspenseful and hooked me right away. After a twist was revealed midway through the book, it slowed a bit and became a tad bit repetitive, but it picked up shortly thereafter. The ending was just so-so for me, but because the beginning was so rapid paced I am giving it a 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars. Trigger warning: Domestic Abuse | #BOTM #JPBookReview #BOTMBacklist

MinDea Wow. You flew through that! 2y
Jess7 Yep, I enjoyed it! When something hooks me - I can tear through it! 🤗 @MinDea 2y
MinDea Did you finish with the audiobook after getting confused or did you switch to the book? 2y
See All 11 Comments
2BR02B I'm about halfway through it rn. I figured out the first twist after just a few chapters, but I haven't a clue what the final twist could be (other than Richard isn't as perfect as he seems. Shocker!) 2y
jz4usc Currently reading this now and am anxious to get to the ‘twist.‘ Someone in my book club said it made him so mad he about threw his Nook across the room, ha! 2y
Jess7 I think I was confused @MinDea bc it abruptly changed without explanation for a bit and with it being audio - I was already having a hard enough time figuring out which character was talking. I picked up the physical book last night and read a few chapters and finished it today by audiobook. (edited) 2y
Jess7 I suspected something like that too, but not exactly what it was. I didn‘t read any reviews prior so I didn‘t go into it with any preconceived notions of when the twist was supposed to occur. I liked the first half better than the second half though. @2BR02B 2y
Jess7 Haha @jz4usc - I loved the pace and intensity during the first half of the book. The second half was a bit repetitive, but I think it had to be in some ways to make sense of the twist. Overall, I enjoyed it. It‘s hard not to like a book (despite it‘s later flaws) when it grabs your attention from page 1. 2y
jz4usc @jz4usc Ok I am into this book an so far the tension is killing me so I hope I am not going to be let down with the big ‘twist‘! 2y
jz4usc And yes, I was let down...it just did not do it for me...sorry , Gone Girl was much better... 2y
