We Slaves of Suriname | Anton de Kom
post image
Mehso-so

This book is a charge against Holland. And rightly so. My country has abused its power in a scandalous way. Suriname was a Dutch colony where slavery was everywhere until 1863. After that circumstances remained poor for the native population until independence. It‘s a shame how little we still know about this part of our history if you‘re not actively looking for it.

The book itself though is dryly written and it was hard to follow along.

TrishB I don‘t think you‘re alone in their country abusing it‘s power ☹️ 2y
