Excuse the poor image!
Alison Weir has written some good fiction & non-fiction historical books. This one #AboutaKingdomRoyalty figures one of the most talked about & strong females in the British Royal Family, Eleanor of Aquitaine. It portrays the stormy relationship between her & Henry & is Historical Fiction. I enjoyed this one as an audiobook, must be honest I prefer my history in the fiction format.

TrishB Can‘t take to Weir, haven‘t liked anything she‘s done!! I think I‘m way too picky!! 6y
Andrew65 @TrishB She certainly is far from my favourite, this would be the most enjoyable one I‘ve read by her. 6y
Ubookquitous I‘m a huge fan of Weir‘s histories as well as her historical fiction - in an interview she said that writing fiction allowed her to fill in blanks she couldn‘t do in writing histories 6y

TrishB @Ubookquitous I think it‘s because I didn‘t agree with some of her filled in blanks!! Not all authors for everyone 😁 6y
Ubookquitous @TrishB lol yep - fortunately there is a wealth of variety in the book world! 6y
Andrew65 @Ubookquitous @TrishB There are certainly many great female historical fiction authors out there! 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 I‘ll have to give her a read! 6y

Wolf Hall | Hilary Mantel

From my tbr (again): this book #AboutAKingdomRoyalty is historical fiction about the reign of King Henry VIII and I have heard so much love for it... so why haven‘t I squeezed it in yet? 🤷🏻‍♀️

MicheleinPhilly I‘ve had this book for 10 years. Royalty doesn‘t interest me at all but I bought it when I was convinced I would read every Booker short-listed book. That‘s not happening. 6y
StellarDoc I loved this one and the follow-up. I'm eagerly awaiting the final book in the trilogy. 6y
chapter_fifty2017 I never thought l needed to read anything more about the tudors 🙈 but l was so wrong, this book is incredible and the follow up is too , so dont deny yourself any longer 🙄👍 enjoy !! 💕 6y

TiredLibrarian Read it! I read it once & thought it was good but not great, then read Bring Up the Bodies which I LOVED, and then re-read Wolf Hall and got so much more out of it. I will say that Mantel's style is a bit hard to follow at first in this one, but it's worth sticking with it. It's much more than a Tudor era tale. 6y
readordierachel I have this on my shelf too and have been too intimidated to start it. 6y
CarolynM I expected not to like this but instead I LOVED it. I agree her style can be a bit hard to follow (when she says "He" she almost always means Cromwell) but worth the effort. It helps to read for prolonged periods rather than just an hour at a time. Hope you enjoy it. 6y
