I read the first book in Yancey's Monstrumologist series a month ago. I was immediately impressed by the gritty storytelling & the grimy atmosphere. Labeled as YA, these books strike me as darker than a lot of adult horror novels. I was so thoroughly impressed by the first book that I immediately jumped into the second:The Curse of the Wendigo. The final third or so of this book honestly gave me strong Malignant vibes👇

According to GR, it‘s been 5 years since I read The Monstrumologist, the first book in this series and I regret that. I listened to most of this on audio and highly recommend it. In book 2, Pellinor Warthorpe and his assistant, Will Henry, are after the Outiko or Wendigo. This is a YA series, but it is dark and gory and this one had some heartbreak. Warthorpe and Will both get quite a bit of character development in this one. 💗 #Screamathon

Not as great a follow up to the original story, but worth reading for the character development of will Henry and the monstrumologist.

I love it when a book surprises me. I never would have guessed this series would be filled with so much humor, so much beautiful writing, and such great characters. I highly recommend the audio. The narrator is great! A warning though, it's kind of gory too.

Hubby is watching the Super Bowl and I have my ear buds in enjoying my meal with Rick Yancey 😊

It's too difficult to pick just one #FantasticCharacter in this series, so I'm calling it a tie between Dr. Pellinore Warthrop and Will Henry. #AprilAmazingReads

The authenticity of the era and the characters in these books is astounding. I was wholly sucked into the story in no time.

And the plot was so intriguing! The Monstrumologist and The Curse of the Wendigo were so different even though they take place right after the other time-wise. I loved that. I loved that it wasn't repetitive. The characters are consistent in all that they do but the situations couldn't have been more different.

I read this paragraph multiple times and then had to share it. Absolutely love it. Yancey's writing is phenomenal.

Very wordy and wandering. The endings always make up for the slow start. I really like Will Henry and I want to know what his story is. Will continue with the series.
