Too Much of a Good Thing
Too Much of a Good Thing: How Four Key Survival Traits Are Now Killing Us | Lee Goldman,
3 posts
Dean of Columbia University's medical school explains why our bodies are out of sync with today's environment and how we can correct this to save our health. Over the past 200 years, human life-expectancy has approximately doubled. Yet we face soaring worldwide rates of obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, mental illness, heart disease, and stroke. In his fascinating new book, Dr. Lee Goldman presents a radical explanation: The key protective traits that once ensured our species' survival are now the leading global causes of illness and death. Our capacity to store food, for example, lures us into overeating, and a clotting system designed to protect us from bleeding to death now directly contributes to heart attacks and strokes. A deeply compelling narrative that puts a new spin on evolutionary biology, TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING also provides a roadmap for getting back in sync with the modern world.

Oh my god! All my holds are flooding in faster than I can read them. I feel like I have become a tactical reader—triaging my list based on length of the hold list after me (ie if I can recheck out)...

what‘s your tactic library lovers? #dogsoflitsy

Susanita My library has a suspend-hold feature which works if I pay close enough attention. 6y
PictureandBook @Susanita I need to figure that out. It haven‘t quite timed it. I keep getting either drips or a guyser 6y
Bostonmomx2 I always have what feels like too many so I stack them in the order they‘re due and read that way. 6y

I wrapped all my #secretsantagoespostal gifts but they don‘t fit in the box I got 😫 Now it won‘t go out until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. I hope my match isn‘t freaking out!

AmyG Looks lovely. It should get there by the 20th (if in the US). 6y
JamieArc It‘s really pretty though! 6y
Dolly Greedy little me would rather wait a couple more days for a bigger box. 😂 6y

3. Oranges. Broccoli.
4. No. I have a permanent one that you fill each year and hang on the wall and didn‘t get it out this year. In fact until you asked I don‘t remember seeing it when I was decorating for Christmas. Hmmmmmmm
5. Will do. 💜
