20 posts | 41 read | 11 to read
Eloisa James returns with another fabulous romance in her New York Times bestselling Desperate Duchesses series! As a young girl, Emilia Gwendolyn Carrington told the annoying future Duke of Pindar that she would marry any man in the world before him so years later she is horrified to realize that she has nowhere else to turn.Evander Septimus Brody has his own reasons for agreeing to Mia's audacious proposal, but there's one thing he won't give his inconvenient wife: himself.Instead, he offers Mia a devil's bargain . . . he will spend four nights a year with her. Four nights, and nothing more. And those only when she begs for them.Which Mia will never do.Now Vander faces the most crucial challenge of his life: he must seduce his own wife in order to win her heart and no matter what it takes, this is the one battle he can't afford to lose."

I tear through these books pretty fast, so I‘ll probably spend one night with this duke.

I‘m tearing through my library‘s available @EloisaJames audiobooks and adding as many to my hold list as I can. I usually do non-fiction on audio and this is such a breath of fresh air. And Susan Duerden is so good!! This one was great, I loved Mia and her novels and her all-too-relatable curvy body issues. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I‘m on a massive #romantsy kick and it‘s just what I need to get through holiday stress.

This was a fun one. I‘m reading these in the wrong order but I‘m excited to read about Thorn and India next.

I love that there‘s a nod to other romance writers, both of whom I enjoy. @JuliaQuinn #lisakleypas @EloisaJames

A close-up of the #romance display. Hopefully you can better make out the covers and titles. Have you read any of these, do any seem TBR-worthy for you? #LitsyLovesLibraries

Another delightful listen. I liked coming back to the world of the Desperate Duchesses only later in time. I particularly enjoyed Sir Cuthbert and Jafir- they made excellent subplots.

I see what you did there! What a fun way to do a shout out to your author friends!
This was a very enjoyable book. Vander, the hero, was super alpha and Mia, the heroine, was an author. A story within a story and Vander trying to figure out how to be a hero from one of Mia's books.

EloisaJames I'm so glad you liked it! And yes--Julia called me up laughing, so that was fun. I wanted to get the idea of glomming books in there. 7y

Snort. Love this. My first @EloisaJames and thus far it's a fun read. And I want a glass squirrel figure! Perfect for my mood. #litsyafterdark #romancy

EloisaJames Funny thing about writing: I read that sentence and thought--ravines/ravishment...like it! Then I realized I wrote it. 😄 7y

This was my first step into the world of Eloisa James, and it was not my last! This was such a delightful, unique read. This author deserves all the praise she receives. #OSRBC #romantsy

BrittanyBorshell And this is kind of a continuation of her earlier Desperate Duchesses series! The first wasn't my favorite so don't be put off by it but the rest are wonderful! She is an amazing writer. Lucky you to have just discovered her! 8y
BibliophileTricia The first suffered from "start of series syndrome" a bit. It set up the rest of the series. 8y
