The plot and characters were never developed. I just didn‘t care about any of it. I really wanted to love it, but I‘m just happy I finished it.

I read this quickly and mostly enjoyed it. But I'll defend my rating by saying that it's not the use of various mental health issues to propel a thriller that bothers me – that can be incredible. It's the reliance on dumb tropes to do so that really grinded my gears. Not for me y'all. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC, though.
For a debut, this was an exciting thrill ride. Southeast Asia, remote island, escapism, exoticism, lies within lies within lies, so many exciting twists and turns, murder, blackmail, it‘s all there. The play between the 2 narrators adds to the mystery and I did not see the end coming. I can‘t wait for more from this author. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Started off a bit slow, but then really picked out and the ending was fantastic!
Set at a beautiful Thai resort, the Permanents represent a mixed bag of imports, making it their home— a home they will do anything to keep. Meanwhile, influencer Brooke feels certain that there‘s a chance to break her career into something weightier by uncovering just what — and who— have made this resort home. The audio is a bit disappointing accent-wise since it would have been nice to feature the variety. But it‘s an exciting & quick listen!
I enjoyed this thriller for the most part. There are plenty of twists and turns with the odd red herring. It keeps you guessing right until the last couple of chapters. There are a variety of characters, not always likeable, and it‘s well written. My only niggle is that I found the conclusion a little far fetched for my liking. Nevertheless, there is a twist in the tale which took me by surprise and this redeems it somewhat. #Pigeonhole
