I enjoyed this witchy retelling of Jane Eyre very much. I have some quibbles with the retelling-ness (I didn‘t see why she should have changed Jane‘s pre-Lowood backstory and everything happened too fast) but the story, romance, witchcraft, and twist on what happened with Mr. Rochester‘s previous wife were all very satisfying. I‘ve always wanted a witchy Jane Eyre! I‘ll be on the lookout for more by this author.

Cute little grocery list pad my dear friend designed for me 🐈‍⬛ I wrote about this book for a conference!

TLDR; version is it‘s a great adaptation, lots of fun, but missing the glorious descriptions of nature that makes the original Jane a delightful witch in her own right.

I quite enjoyed this witchy retelling of Jane Eyre! Although I had the ebook on Kindle (it was my November First Reads pick), I ended up listening to the audiobook which I got for $1.99. I definitely recommend the audiobook as the narration is great & very atmospheric. I like Jane as a witch sent to Thornfield Hall to solve a haunting problem & frankly, Rochester is much more appealing as a man whose estate may be haunted by his wife versus ⬇️

DebinHawaii … *Spoiler if you never read Jane Eyre!* a man keeping his mad wife in the attic. Probably not for classics purists but if you like retellings & a bit of paranormal/magic in them, you should enjoy this one. So mote it be! 😉

OK, I didn‘t follow the #HyggeChallenge prompts of “Cook dinner, turn on music & eat by candlelight” very well. I cooked rice but just assembled my bowl to use up leftover poke from yesterday. I started out listening to music but ended up switching to my current audiobook instead (an awesome atmospheric witchy Jane Eyre retelling). Finally, with asthma some days are not candle days so I used this mini battery one.

TheBookHippie We do that candle too sometimes!!! Looks so cozy! 4mo
Chrissyreadit It looks cozy. What‘s most important is did you feel cozy and comfy? 4mo
AllDebooks It's more about how it made you feel than following to the letter. Looks cosy and relaxing. X 4mo

Salt and Broom by Sharon Lynn Fisher
I finished this brilliant MASTERPIECE in less than 24 hours, I don‘t even know where to start. I loved it so much. SLF created something so amazing, my words don‘t do it justice. I lamented each time I had to put it down. This is my favorite book of the year!!! A magical retelling of Jane Eyre and I loved everything about it. Jane Aire will stay with me for a long time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Book #84 in 2023
