Love love loved this book. Awesome female protagonist and takes the “spunky female trying to make it” trope and turns it into a really compelling and authentic narrative. Beautiful and powerful writing. You‘ll hope it all works out while you cringe thinking “no no no don‘t do that pleeeease” :)

There‘s a lot more to this book than meets the eye

I was very impressed with the storytelling ability of the author. Every paragraph pulled you in further. Character development is very rich.

Interesting start with setting of Probition but in the end not even the whiskey could save it. Typical lower class girl ignores the nice guy and falls for the rich cad. Only saving grace was at least he used protection and she didn't end of pregnant. Then there was the pretty "smart" sister.

I couldn't pass up today's Audible daily deal. I'm such a sucker for historical fiction. 😬

CocoReads I'm a sucker for the word whiskey. And I like historical fiction. And the ocean. Stacking but broke so will check it out later. 7y
sprainedbrain @CocoReads You are cracking me up! 😂 also, did I mention it's $2.95? 7y
CocoReads 😄 I'm not on audible because I have trouble with audio books but when I say I'm broke I mean I have no money in my ebook accounts and about $5 in cash. Friday is payday thank goodness. 7y
CocoReads But seriously, if it's available on hoopla or through my library I'll totally check it out. 7y

It was moderately entertaining but, honestly, I skipped through the more detailed, tedious and trite sections. I feel like should like it better due to the popularity of her Magic of Ordinary Days. Have I missed something? Maybe in the parts I skipped???

A warm blanket, a grey cat and some prohibition era rum running makes for a pretty good rainy Sunday.
