pickPractical Magic vibes, a tale of 4 generations impacted by a curse.
A little bit long and too much from the past to keep track of at times, but an entertaining journey.

I always enjoy Bahni Turpin‘s narration, who really brought these characters to life. I had been hoping for more magic. It was a pleasant enough listen, but lacked enough substance for it to stick with me for long.🎧
so-soI wanted more sweeping family epic tales. This is more just women in a modern, dysfunctional family with a little history and magic thrown in.

February is Black History Month in the US so going into my TBR to lean heavily into Black authors.
I have 2 ARCs I want to get to this month, the tagged, and Chain- Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah I LOVED is Friday Black short story collection so excited to see what he does with a novel length story.
pickThis book comes out in February and I‘m so excited for everyone to read this! This is a brilliantly drawn family saga incorporating family traditions, a family curse, and family secrets connected to a Voodoo shop in NOLA. The characters are so well drawn and the story is such you keep turning the pages to see how this is all going to end.
