A love affair so richly and attentively imagined it carries the grace and gravity of memory itself. Leslie Jamison Its hard to remember now that I was once that girl, lying in the sand in my red swimsuit and swimming late into the day. Sharkbait, he called me. Its in the water where she first sees him: a local man almost twenty years her senior. Adrift in the summer after finishing college, a young woman is on holiday with her mother in an isolated Australian coastal town. Finding herself pulled to Jude, the man in the water, she begins losing herself in the simple, seductive rhythms of his everyday life. As their relationship deepens, life at Sailors Beach offers her the stability she has been craving as the daughter of two driftersa loving but impulsive mother and an itinerant father. But when she witnesses something she doesnt fully understand, she finds herself questioning everythingabout Jude, about herself, about the life she has and the one she wants. A magnetic and unforgettable story of desire and its complexities, and a powerful reckoning with memory, loss and longing, Madelaine Lucass debut novel, Thirst for Salt, reveals with stunning, sensual immediacy the way the past can hold us in its thrall, shaping who we are and what we love.

I love when books stir up emotions (in this case, long-forgotten) in me! Lucas puts the reader in the shoes of our twenty-something MC who is visiting the coast with her mother, where she meets an older man, a local. The perspective of a young woman falling head over heels really brought out the feels. I caught myself reminiscing about becoming so attached to someone. A character-driven novel full of longing, love and loss. #blameitonlitsy

Cinfhen Great review! I loved this one! It definitely gave me #Feels 8mo

I really enjoyed this one. The writing is beautiful and the style fits perfectly to the story of remembering a past love affair. Melancholy and bittersweet. I think you may have put this one on my radar @squirrelbrain 💙💙

vivastory I hope you are well, Sarah! I picked up a book of J. Robert Lennon stories the other day. Thought you might be interested 11mo

Gorgeous debut - the writing is lush and evocative. 💯 for you @BarbaraBB @KarenUK ❣️❣️❣️ A young woman looks back on a summer love affair with an older man. It‘s a slow burn, very much character driven but absolutely stunning and vivid. I owe a HUGE thanks to @squirrelbrain who put this book on my #ReadersRadar 💗

LeeRHarry Had this one on my radar, and on my library holds list - mainly because it‘s a debut by an Australian author but also because it sounds really good - so therefore glad that you enjoyed it 😊 11mo
squirrelbrain Now I‘m DEFINITELY going to have to buy it, aren‘t I?! My #netgalley request hasn‘t come through yet. 😕 It did quite well on the #camplitsy voting, but not quite well enough. 11mo
Cinfhen I‘m really happy to send you my copy @squirrelbrain xx I‘m pretty sure I have your address saved on file xxx 11mo
